Was 2019 a successful year for you?
Most definitely, so many highs and pivotal moments. One of the highlights would be the boat party I held in London on the Thames, the view was astonishing with many of London’s iconic monuments in sight, such as Big Ben, The Eye and the beautiful night-time city life scenery. The event was
called FLAVA Boat Party which sold out straight away with only my name on the flyer. A Big thanks to all my supporters & crew.
How do you see the last decade from your
perspective as a DJ & producer?
I’m still young at only 21 so I have a lot to learn but my journey so far has certainly given me an abundance of experience. 10 years ago I was learning to play the keyboard, and pestering my dad to let me have a go on his Technics 1200’s. Now i have progressed massively as both a DJ and producer.
How would you describe your sound?
I’ve been asked this question many times and all I can say is my sound is heavily influenced by past, present and stuff you have never even heard before. I like to be different, and my only musical influence is my Dad who spent his whole life perfecting the style that I play which is called Intelligence music; a style that can be enjoyed by everyone. There is no limit, no matter what genre/sub-genre; the high standard of mixing remains throughout, forever, now and always. My sound is Old Skool in harmony with New School.
What music did you like growing up?
All dance music, but mostly UK garage.
Remember the first dance track you liked?
I can’t remember the first but for sure one of my favourites was T2 Heartbroken. I’m currently working on a DnB remix of Heartbroken because of it being such an iconic childhood song.
Your first clubbing experience?
My first clubbing type experience was Leeds festival 2013, and it was that experience when I finalised my decision of wanting a career in DJ’ing! I went there and spent most my of time in the dance tent; I looked at the DJ and thought that will be me one day.
How did you get into DJ’ing?
My dad was a DJ and I basically grew up around DJs. I remember being little and my dad would mix my favourite anthems such as Winnie the Pooh with his dance music records; I was fascinated. I always loved being around my Dad and his friends, the house was filled with music 24/7, and now with me following in his footsteps the house is still the same!
Gettingthatfirstbreak-howdidithappenfor?
For me it was when I was 16 years old, one of the first live sets I ever played was at a 2 story wine bar. The night was absolutely rammed, the owner of the bar spoke to me after my set and told me it’s the busiest he’s seen the bar in 50 years! However my rise to fame came after I did the Epidemik show when I was 18, after then the job offers came flooding in. To name a few, Innovation, Jungle Mania, Random Concept & Epidemik events.
Tell us about the scene then and now?
The scene then was all new to me, and the scene now is everything I hoped it would be. I guess you could call me a Drum and Bass addict.
Tell us about the labels you’re on?
I am still yet to release any of my productions. I have been patiently sitting on them waiting for the right time, the right time is coming very soon. Talks are in the air with major labels I will release on. The future looks promising.
Tell us of any gigs you have coming up?
One of my favourite events I play at is The Secret Drum and Bass society, organised by my good friend Motse. His next event is the beginning of April called Rise Of The Amazons, and I will be doing a set with world famous, MC Bellyman.Another one of my favourite up and coming events is Political Drumz, with headliners Ego Trippin & the one and only Ac Mc. I am also very excited to be playing at B LOVE Festival with the Legend himself, Shy FX. Hosting my set will be MC Jonny Banton, who’s skills are sublime. Soon to come is a world tour, which I am absolutely ecstatic for as it will
be great to travel across the seas to spread happiness with my music. So to all my global supporters; keep a look out as I may just end up in a venue near you!
Big names that you have played alongside?
Harry Shotta, DJ Rap, DJ Zinc, Nicky Blackmarket, Logan D, Shadow Demon Coalition, Ragga Twins, Ego Trippin, Serum, Shy FX, Mollie Collins, Micky Finn, Brockie & Det, DJ Guv, Turno, Eksman, Lady V Dubz, Lazee KD, Little H, Aaron Crascall, Hedex, MC Bellyman, ACMC, Macky Gee, Benny Page, High contrast.
How does it feel to play along side such DJs?
It’s feels amazing. It’s always a privilege and a pleasure to be on the same event flyer as these Top Artists!
You are releasing new music?
Yes absolutely, I am always in the studio, working hard to expand my knowledge and create something unique and fresh. My first ever releases will be coming very soon, not many know that I have been making tracks behind the scenes, so it will be a pleasant surprise for everyone when my tracks do come out. So far I have got to where I am without any productions of my own released, I am very excited to get them out there and for people know not only am I a bad ass DJ but also a skilful producer.
Where can we hear you in the near future?
I have various things in London, Canterbury, Hastings & Wales. Mostly for me the next period will be spending the majority of my time making my own musicandcollaboratingwithotherartistsfromtheindustryin the studio.
What can we expect from you in 2020?
BIG THINGS. This year will be the start of my journey as a producer, my debut release will be coming in the next couple of months, which I am absolutely over the moon for! Keep your eyes and ears peeled.
