they have lived! People don't get as drunk as they do in Ireland so nicer atmosphere. The drinks are very expensive! Small bottle of water usually between 6-10e! People are really there for the music! The fact clubs have to shut at 3/4am in Ireland is a bad idea as it releases all the drunk people at the same time into the streets and takeaways and this can cause arguments and fighting. If the clubs stayed open till 6am you would find that most people will go home anyway in their own time. I do love a good party in Ireland tho as you tend to meet a lot of friends and the Irish know how to have fun!
I’m away from the scene in Ireland for the last 3 years now but hear its picking up a lot again after a bit of a dip when the recession kicked in. The Godskitchen Raves in The Point (O2)were my favourite and Creamfields, HI FI Festival and LIFE Festival of course. We went to the 1st two LIFE festivals in Gort Co.Galway and what a cool small festival it was. The 1st one was so small probably 1k people and one garda car. Such an experience walking through the psychedelic decorations through the forest and listening to psytrance in the distance! Obviously the weather plays a big factor in a good party. I mean a bit of rain won't stop me from partying but its a lot more fun in the sun.
Have you plans to come home or venture further? Are you a dreamer? What are your dreams?
Yes I plan a few weeks back home in Ireland then onto London early November for a few days as I am playing at The Gallery, Ministry Of Sound November 6th.
Then back to Ireland and onto India where I am touring different cities playing 10 gigs in total throughout December. Really looking forward to this as I have such an urge to travel right now!!
My dream would be to play Amnesia some day. Also I want to own my own Villa in Ibiza with a pool so i could bring my family out here whenever they wanted. This island is beautiful! I also think the weather affects me so I would love to live in the sun as it makes me a lot happier!! Also I love animals especially dogs so can't wait to be settled in the future and have a dog or even two.
What kind of people influence you and why? Who supports you and has done throughout? What traits should a person
possess to accomplish their dreams/goals? What advice would you give to someone chasing theirs and about to give up?
Other female DJ's give me hope and inspiration. There are more female djs these days compared to 10 years ago and its great to see. Dj China from WRTW agency has been by my side from the start and without her positive attitude I could have gave up a lot of times. I was putting all my energy into recording mixes and looking for tunes any free evening and day off so didn't relax at all! It can be frustrating playing very few gigs all unpaid.
I kept on going and its seemed to pay off in theend!IfIcouldgobackintimeIwishIhad more confidence to go for DJ'ing. I would advise anyone with a dream to go for it but put 110% into it and you will get results. Block out any distractions and move away if you have more opportunities elsewhere. London was the best decision of my life even though the 1st year was the toughest year in my life.
Musical journey – Gig history at home & abroad. Favourite clubs, artists you've played with, residencies. What's been your most memorable moment/moments & why? If you could go back in time to one night, what night would it be & why?
So my best gigs have been in London and Ibiza. I played in Ministry Of Sound the same night as the late Frankie Knuckles did. This was his last ever set before he sadly passed away. To be on the same poster as Eddie Halliwell and Ferry Corsten has been a dream come true. These were separate MOS gigs!! I also played at Trance Sanctuary St.Patricks Weekend at EGG London with fellow Irish DJ's Bryan Kearney and Maria Healy. Also played at EGG for Summerized Sessions.
Since Pacha closed this is now where we hold our parties. Playing in Pacha was always fun! Summerized Sessions took over the second room. We played alongside DJ's like Audiowhores, Copyright, Wally Lopez, Nick Warren and Charlie Hedges. Ibiza has definitely stepped things up a notch! Start of the season Ibiza Trance Family ran a boat party called NEMISIS and this was an after party for Cream at Amnesia. This was so much fun! I couldn't believe that I was going to DJ after Will Atkinson!! Really cool to meet him on the boat.
He's one of the reasons I still listen to trance. I think he's a genius! Playing the opening party for Eden was amazing! On the same line up as Mark Knight and Prok and Fitch! I played for DETROIT as I was made one of their residents after emailing in a mix and playing at VIVA a couple of times in the west end. The place was packed and my set time was great 2-3am! The crowd loved my set this was my biggest gig yet so I was nervous but it went down a treat!! Tunes like " Born Slippy .Nuxx feat. Catraz (Original Mix)" and "Friend Within- Renegade Master" went down a treat along with lots of new deep/tech house tracks. There’s been so many great gigs! Another favourite was playing closing set at HUSH when George Sax was playing alongside me and i dropped "Mark Knight & Funkagenda- Man with the red face" as my last tune and George was playing along on his sax to a packed club at 5.30am!!!! The atmosphere was electric!!!
The sound system and atmosphere in this club would really make me loose myself in my sets and i think I played my best here! Another big night was when I took over from Juicy M in the main room at EDEN. The club was very busy! I was nervous as i wasn't going to play EDM but more progressive house/trance. Played lots of classics and some new stuff and it went down a treat! It was after this Midnight @ Eden booked me every Wednesday. I have to mention the amount of back to back sessions I had with Paul Stone in Tropi! We would play 4/5 hours and it would feel like an hour had passed.
So much fun banging out classic trance, tech trance, techno and psy trance! Great bar in the west end of San Antonio. Official pre party’s for Cream and Connect were held here which I played at also. Playing at Play 2 for Ultraviolet alongside Vicky Divine was also a highlight!! Playing at Kanya everyday was brilliant as well! Made me get up early and appreciate the beauty of Ibiza.
The view of the bay and sea breeze as I played was amazing. Had some amazing sunset sets here where I played tunes like "Solarstone- Seven Cities (ambient version)" and "Above and beyond-Sun and the moon (acoustic version)" . I can't pick one night as my favourite so it would have to be two, Eden Opening set and Hush when George played the sax with me at the closing set!!!
