Lilliput Barn and Maple Barn. Each one had a special meaning to us and after a lot of thinking and deciding we choose Lilliput Barn in honour of Lilli.
‘And the winner is......’, I flipped the piece of paper around to read the name on the back, ‘Jenny Brown’! ‘Oh no’, I cried.
‘What’s the matter’? Rex wheezed as Lilli bounced on his chest the pair of them in fits of giggles.
‘Jenny Brown has won the naming prize’! I cried again.
‘Good for her, she’s a clever girl and a looker to boot, don’t you think’? Rex exclaimed regretting it immediately after seeing the angry look on my face.
My jealousy took over and our bed became a block of ice, I jumped in the shower and was cool with Rex for the rest of the day. I couldn’t snap out of it even when Rex tried to apologize for his comment and making us a lovely dinner that evening. We drifted off to sleep that night in silence neither of us having our good night kiss.
At breakfast I was as pleasant as my thoughts would allow I recalled the Sherry and Paul situation and how Jenny got into her head. I could truly sympathize. Giving Rex a kiss and a loving hug, knowing he would take it as intended, that all was forgiven. I knew he did not think he was in the wrong, but he hugged me back and smiled as he left for the bar.
With only a couple of days before Christmas I decided to go to see Sherry. Rex and I would be doing Christmas dinner for Paul, Sherry, Penny and, of course, Shalma. I needed to find out how the romance was going, if at all. Checking to see if she was working an early shift I drove to the village green, but her car was not in the usual place, so I drove over to the cottage with Lilli in tow.
