Well Folks, back again with another huge issue! With so much happening in the world of Electronic music, across Ireland & the world, we endeavour to capture as much as we can for you to feast your ears & eyes on!
Before we get into the details of this issue, I would like to wish everyone a great 2017, and thank you all for an amazing 2016 here at Zone HQ. I would also like to say, thanx for the continued support for the passed 2 years, and my Zone grow and grow in the years to come! See you in 2017, where we will be making lots of new changes, watch this space folks
In our interviews in this issue we talk to cover man, and one of the pioneers of dance music, Dave Clarke. Dave Clarke is a DJ with an anarchist streak a mile wide and punk in his soul. Technologically, he’s an early adopter with the studio to prove it, but he also embraces sounds outside the staunch electronic dance remit, from Nick Cave to Savages to old favourites Bauhaus.
Next up, from the Netherlands, is Signum. Asides from dedicating almost 2 decades to dance music, he has a wondrous outlook on the way things were back when he was starting out and the way things are now. Amazing to hear that he began his journey producing and not playing, this came after and he tells us why, in an endearing story about the one and only, undisputed Hero of Trance!
We talk to, USA based, HeRobust, who is one of the hottest producers in bass music. His recent ‘I’m Aloud’ EP gave us the trap anthems ‘Skurt Reynolds’, ‘Dirty Work’ and ‘Bottle Swervice’. After the widespread success of his recent releases along with some major collaborations and remixes, 2016 has turned out to be his most successful year yet.
Also from the USA, we talk about Elle Vee. Elle Vee has been one of 2016’s breakthrough singers and songwriters. This year alone, she has collaborated with some of the world’s best artists such as Benny Bennasi, Ken Loi, Dzeko & Torres, Wasback, and Paris Blohm to name a few. Her tracks have been supported by Tiesto, Blasterjaxx, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hardwelll, Nicky Romero, Andrew Rayel, Breathe Carolina, Ummet Ozcan, Futuristic Polar Bears and many others.
In our festival review we find out the top 10 reasons to spend halloween at Something wicked, in Houston, Texas.
Hitting up the USA again we talk to rising star, Chris Schambacher. It’s always interesting to watch the career of DJ’s/Producers online and their progression through the ranks over time. One of those people that we've had our eyes on for over 18 months is Chris Schambacher.
Heading over to Germany we talk to Daniel Miller, Heiko Hoffmann & Chris Liebing @ electri_city conference. Chris became active in the Frankfurt music scene in the 90s. Opening the Spin club in 1994 and working together with EyeQ Records in Frankfurt. Later Chris founded his first label Audio, followed by CLR Records in 1999. Collaborations with Speedy J, Umek, Tommy Four Seven and Green Velvet were soon to follow.
On home soil we chat to DJ Ryan McGuckin & promoter Patrick McGuigan from Transend clubnights.
We review & interview the guys behind the film 'The Red Man' , John Acquaviva & Jimmie Gonzalez.
In our label spotlight we chat to Safari Music from downunder.
Bazza's Ragga Stack talks to Manchester based Reggae/Dancehall artist from outta
Jamaica. Peppery! Peppery has been on the radar for years after releasing massive tunes on NICE UP.
Adding to all this we have our "The best sets on the net", and our 'Studio Tipps 003".
As if all that was not enough of course we have our regular reviews and charts from the talented and dynamic Zone crew. We also welcome zipdj.com and deejay.de to our charts section!
Also this issue we continue Zone Magazine's FREE exclusive DJ Mix series. We also have our FREE gifts from Function Loops, 2 sample packs each issue, all you need to do is purchase our cool publication and/or sign up to our newsletter!
As usual we would like to thank all of our very many talented contributors and friends who provide so much content, love and support for what we are doing, they are listed on the left hand column on this page if you want to contact them directly with the latest news.
From myself and the whole Zone crew, peace.
