TRANSPORTATION BARRIERS
The average commute time in Ohio is 20-25 Minutes, accord- ing to the Ohio Department of Transportation. Ideally, essen- tial services should be avail- able within a comparable time throughoutthe state. This is, of course, not the case, especially in rural and resource-poor areas.Overall, statewide there has been a slight increase in transportation barriers in more rural areas of the state.
This burden is further
increased when households have no vehicle. While those living in urban areas may be able to access public transpor- tation options, these often are time consuming, and act as
a barrier as well. Furthermore, financial burden from public transport may not be a viable option. In rural areas, it may not be an option at all.
