 Conor Gaffney
Law Fellow
Southern Poverty Law Center
Conor Gaffney is a Law Fellow with the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Criminal Justice Reform Program. He works on prosecutorial and police misconduct projects. Conor graduated from NYU School of Law in 2018, where he participated in the family and immigration defense clinics and volunteered as a bail agent with two charitable bail funds. He worked at the US DOJ Civil Rights Division’s Special Litigation Section and with the King County Department of Public Defense during the summers. Prior to law school, Conor worked as a policy and data analyst for the City of New Orleans, focusing on police reform and prison population reduction. He studied philosophy as an undergraduate at the University of Chicago, and intellectual history as a master’s student at the University of Cambridge.
Christopher Goodly
Management Services Bureau New Orleans Police Department
Chief Christopher Goodly has served the citizens of New Orleans as a member of the police department for more than 21 years. A life-long resident of New Orleans, Chief Goodly currently serves as Deputy Superintendent of the Management Services Bureau, overseeing the Education and Training Division (Police Academy), Recruitment Division, Personnel, and Human Resources. He previously served as the Training Director for the Education and Training Division, where he implemented many systematic measures to increase efficiency and accountability. Additionally, Chief Goodly was a long-serving commander of the Fifth Police District. Chief Goodly holds a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Arts degree both in Criminal Justice from Southern University at New Orleans. He is a graduate of the 57th session of the Senior Management Institute for Police provided by the Police Executive Research Forum and the Anti-Defamation League’s Advanced Training School. Chief Goodly is an instructor for the department’s leadership development training program, Leadership in Police Organizations, established by the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
