• Advised the Salk Institute on entitling and implementing Master Plan to develop its world-renowned scientific research facility in La Jolla.
• CEQA and land use counsel in connection with preparation of an EIR for AltaSea, an urban marine research center on a 28-acre site at the Port of Los Angeles.
• Obtained all project approvals for the redevelopment of San Francisco’s landmark Ferry Building.
• Led all land use and transactional matters related to the San Francisco Cruise Terminal mixed-use project at Piers
30-32.
• Represented the Presidio Trust, a wholly owned subsidiary of the U.S. government, in all aspects of land use and
development activities for the redevelopment of the San Francisco Presidio into residential and commercial uses.
• Guided Lennar Communities through unusually challenging land use and State Lands public trust issues related to the Treasure Island Naval Station redevelopment project. Assisted the City and County of San Francisco and its Redevelopment Agency in connection with conveyance of portions of Treasure Island from the Navy to the Treasure Island Development Authority (“TIDA”) and the conveyance and other agreements between TIDA and Lennar.
• Represented Signature Properties in connection with the EIR and land use approvals for the redevelopment of Oak to Ninth Street, a 64-acre former industrial site along the Oakland Estuary, in to a new mixed-use community.
• Advised Lennar Communities on all entitlement and redevelopment agency issues involved with redevelopment of San Francisco’s Hunters Point Shipyard Phase I project, a 500-acre property for residential, industrial and commercial uses, and the 700-acre Candlestick Point/Hunters Point Shipyard Phase II project.
Other Representative Mixed-Use Experience
• Partnered with the Centre City Development Corporation, the City of San Diego, consultants, JMI Realty, the Padres and others to prepare the CEQA documents for Petco Park, the Park at the Park and retail projects affiliated with the Ballpark, all of which have played a crucial role in the revitalization of Downtown San Diego.
• Land use counsel for 7th & Market and Park & Market in Downtown San Diego.
• Obtained development approvals for the Cross Border Express.
