Madeleine M. Landrieu
Dean and Judge Adrian G. Duplantier Distinguished Professor of Law
Dean Landrieu began her tenure as Dean of her alma mater on July 1, 2017. Prior to her appointment, she served as an elected judge on both the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal and on the Civil District for the Parish of Orleans. Prior to becoming a judge, Dean Landrieu enjoyed an active litigation practice.
During her 16-year tenure in the judiciary, Dean Landrieu served as President of the Louisiana District Judges Association, as President of the Board of the Louisiana Judicial College, and on the Board of the Judges and Lawyers Assistance program. She remains active in Judicial Training for the Louisiana Supreme Court.
Dean Landrieu frequently teaches and presents in the areas of trial and appellate advocacy, civil procedure, juvenile justice, and child welfare.
Shaun Ferguson
Superintendent
New Orleans Police Department
A 22-year veteran of the force, Superintendent Shaun D. Ferguson was sworn into office in January 2019 after most recently serving as the Police Commander of the Educational and Training Division, which oversees the police academy. Prior to this assignment, Superintendent Ferguson served as Police Commander of both New Orleans Police Department’s 2nd and 4th Police Districts before taking over as head of the NOPD Academy in the summer of 2018.
The New Orleans native was raised in the Lower Ninth Ward and moved to Algiers during his junior high school years. A graduate of O. Perry Walker High School in 1990, Superintendent Ferguson joined the New Orleans Police Department in December 1998. During his tenure, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Southern University of New Orleans, where he also received a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
Superintendent Ferguson has remained committed to not only sustaining the NOPD reforms begun by his predecessor, but to building on those successes to lead the way in 21st century policing in America and becoming a world-class law enforcement agency that the citizens of New Orleans can be proud to call their own.
