Employee Handbook And
Personnel Policies Manual
EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK
AND
PERSONNEL POLICIES MANUAL FOURTEENTH EDITION
For Employers Throughout The Country
The Employee Handbook And Personnel Policies Manual by Attorney Richard J. Simmons of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is the first book of its kind — designed for employers throughout the country. It is a unique publication covering the full range of policies included in personnel handbooks and also a one-stop reference manual for employee policies with guidance on how to draft policies and avoid common pitfalls. It is an essential reference tool for every HR representative, payroll executive, labor relations consultant, payroll manager, and EEO coordinator.
As an indispensable manual for every HR and law library, it is the best guide to personnel policies in the country. It offers a non-technical review of the laws and regulations applicable to employee handbooks and personnel policies. It includes hundreds of sample policies. Among the numerous topics addressed are the following:
Sexual Harassment Training
Manual And Prevention Kit
The California Fair Employment and Housing Council (FEHC) has issued new regulations requiring significant revisions to policies prohibiting harassment, discrimination and retaliation. Among other changes, they address investigations, confidentiality, complaints, anti-retaliation standards, translation requirements, and the need to update policies to cover all characteristics protected by California law. The FEHC also modified its regulations regarding the two-hour training and tracking rules and the negative effects of “abusive conduct.” Every workplace in America is vulnerable to sexual harassment claims. Statistically, they are among the most common claims filed against employers. While experts recognize that prevention is the best cure, employers often wait until claims are filed to address problems. California law requires employers with 50 or more employees to train their supervisors. New rules also mandate training on bullying and abusive conduct while creating new standards governing an ever- expanding list of protected characteristics that now includes gender identity, gender expression, genetic information and military status. Employers must take direct and immediate steps to train employees and prevent harassment under the law. In the new edition of his publication, Attorney Richard J. Simmons of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, provides essential guidance to employers regarding prevention steps, including training, complaint procedures, investigation techniques, corrective action and remedial measures. The publication provides tools, including training outlines, quizzes, policies, and “promise” statements, that will help employers avoid problems altogether and win cases that lack merit. Among the subjects addressed in the publication are the following:
• Guidelines For Prevention
• Sample Training Outlines & Guidelines
• Workplace Training Scenarios
• New Abusive Conduct & Bullying Standards • Analysis Of EEOC Guidelines
• Legal Responsibilities
• Standards For Discipline
• Orientation Checklist & Form
