Terry Bean
Officer/EPIC Instructor Management Services Bureau New Orleans Police Department
Officer Terry Bean is a native of New Orleans, and has been a dedicated member of the New Orleans Police Department since 2007. Terry has served as a patrolman, detective, community liaison, and now serves as NOPD’s EPIC Coordinator. In addition to being one of two EPIC instructors at the NOPD Police Academy, Terry is heavily involved in community oriented policing, which he uses to foster meaningful relationships with official and unofficial community leaders to bring about positive change within New Orleans. By combining his experience, skill, and compassion, Terry seeks to deconstruct the historic walls between the police and the community to promote trust, respect, and transparency for all community stakeholders. Terry is respected by his peers, as well as the community he so passionately serves and protects.
Nicholas Gernon
Captain
Field Operations Bureau, 7th District New Orleans Police Department
Captain Nicholas Gernon joined the New Orleans Police Department in 2002. He first worked in the 1st District in night patrol before being assigned as a burglary detective. He has also worked as a Narcotics and Violent Crime Detective and from 2007 to 2009 as a Homicide Detective. Gernon was promoted to Sergeant in 2009 in the Eighth District and rejoined Homicide as a Sergeant in 2012. He was appointed as the acting Homicide Commander in June 2014. In August 2015, Gernon was promoted to Lieutenant and moved to the 6th District. In November 2016, he was again promoted and became the Commander of the Eighth District, overseeing the French Quarter. From the Eighth District, in 2019 Gernon was tapped to oversee the Crime Laboratory and Central Evidence and Property Division. He was appointed to the position of Seventh District Captain in May 2020. Captain Gernon has received several awards from various organizations over the years. He was named Eighth District Detective of the year in 2006. He has been recognized by the French Quarter Business Association for his work as the Eighth District Commander. He has also been awarded a City Council Proclamation for his commitment to the community as well as a Crimestoppers award pertaining to Homicide Investigations.
