STARS MAKE IT TO
2018 FRASER CUP CHAMPIONSHIP
The New England Stars wrapped up the regular season with a record of 36-9-2 to win the Coastal Division Regular Season Title. They went 9-1 in the last 10 games of the season with the 1 loss against the L/A Nordiques on March 9th.
With the first place seed going into the playoffs, the Stars would face-off against the 4th seed Maine Wild. Game 1 was held on Thursday, March 15th at Skate 3 Arena. The Stars came out flying putting up 6 goals in the first period. They would continue where they left offwith3moreinthe2ndperiod.The Wild would find the net 4:13 into the 3rd period only to be negated by a Stars PP goal in the third to close out
a 10-1 win. Andrew Ghimpeteanu got the win in net for New England with 21 saves. Notable stats were Nick Johnson with a hat-trick, Cole Archambeault with a goal and 2 assists, Derek Flynn with a goal and 3 assists, Connor Barter with 2 goals and an assist, and Ian Gately with 3 assists.
Game 2 was held on Saturday, March 17th in Biddeford. The First period was once again all New England with goals coming from Cole Archambeault, Aidan Conlon, and Ryan Caisse, all even strength. The Wild scored just 31 seconds into the 2nd in an effort to bounce back. Connor Barter tallied a goal just under 4 minutes later. The
Wild would tally 1 more to bring the score to 4-2 going into the 3rd. Ryan Gauvin would notch 2 goals in the 3rd to close out a 6-2 win and move the Stars onto the 2nd round! Greg Moon was strong in Net for New England turning away 26 of 28 shots faced.
The Stars would face- off against the L/A Nordiques in the Coastal Division Finals. The Nordiques advanced after beating the Northeast Generals 4-3 in game 3 of their series. Game 1 was Wednesday, March 21 in Tyngsboro. The Stars went up 1-0 in the first with a goal by Hunter Norris. The Nordiques would tie it up just over 6 minutes into the 2nd. Tyson Gudaitis
