Also, it's important to some co-writers that they feel they have enough space to contribute to the idea. I had one co-writer early on who, after I had spent a lot of time preparing an idea (to the point that it was over-prepared), rejected it because they said that it sounded like I'd already written it.
So, in my view, having an idea bank of writable ideas is better than pre-writing. If you get to the end of this book having completed all the exercises in the Workbook, you will have eight quality, writable ideas in your idea bank and twelve Song Maps (7 in this book plus 5 from the Workbook) for you to walk boldly into a co-write and offer your co-writers, knowing that you will have something tangible to contribute. You may of course decide to write something completely different. But at least you will have done your best to be your best.
