P. 2

FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Friends of CNM,
On a daily basis, we are constantly looking to the future and striving to do more to support our community, help more students achieve their educational goals and contribute powerfully to the economic rebound of our state. These e orts guide us in the constant pursuit of our Vision, “Changing Lives, Building Community.”
But we must also take time to pause and re ect on our amazing achievements along the way. This Annual Report gives us an opportunity to do just that.
At CNM, we have clearly understood that our state desperately needs more college graduates to help fuel a strong economic comeback in New Mexico. That’s why we’ve made a concerted e ort in recent years to signi cantly increase the number of students who become empowered college graduates.
This e ort has required so much hard work through a variety of initiatives, some of which are highlighted in this Annual Report. And like so many times before over the history of this great community college, we are rising to the challenge.
In September 2016, Community College Week announced its 2016 Top 100 Associate Degree Producers. The numbers showed why CNM is one of the best community colleges in the country. CNM ranked No. 1 among 1,100-plus community colleges nationally for the number of associate degrees earned by Native Americans; No. 2 for associate degrees earned by Hispanics; and No. 6 for total associate degrees awarded.
These rankings were all-time highs for CNM. And they’re a testament to the immense passion our faculty and sta have for our students, our community and our economy. Thank you, CNM, for helping so many of our students persevere, graduate and become extremely important contributors to our community. As we progress into the year ahead, let’s continue to stay focused on helping more students graduate in the elds that will help our economy rebound, grow and prosper.
Sincerely,
Dr. Katharine Winograd, CNM President
