General course information
This course is to ensure all delegates are competent to: Assess and determine when it’s appropriate to use a ladder or stepladder and correctly locate and safely use ladders & stepladders.
Delegates will also have an understanding of: what they need to know about the law and standards relating to ladders & stepladders hazards in the use, storage and handling.
Course content
n The Health & Safety At Work Act
n Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
n Legislation and regulations affecting work at height
n Product standards and classification for ladders & stepladders
n Safe systems of work and hazards
n Protecting the public and other workers
n PPE requirements / care / maintenance & use
n Safe storage & handling techniques including Pre use safety checks n Safe use of ladders, stepladders (as applicable)
Experience required
No prior knowledge of topic required, delegates will need to be fit and capable of lifting and carrying ladders and Stepladders.

4 hours 1 - 8
Facilities / requirements
A training room suitable for the number of delegates will be required. Access to customer’s standard ladders and associated equipment will be required.

Certification renewal
Recommended every 3 years however this may depend on the company’s risk assessments and internal policies.
