climate has impacted the production of microscopic marine organisms that represent the basic food source for all life in the ocean. According to scientists, an estimated 90% of the world’s oceanic large fish populations are already gone. But scientists believe this decline can be reversed with international cooperation and a broader understanding of the science and the issues that have destroyed marine habitats and depleted fish and marine mammal populations. The Ocean Artists Society supports the effort to bring attention to these issues. What the society documents in art, on film, and in photographs serves as an ever present reminder of what we have come to love -- and what we stand to lose. As OAS co-founder Wyland says, “The choice to save the ocean is ours. And the time to choose is now.”
