GeorgeHarisonwasborninLiverpoolon25thFebruary1943.HisfamilywereRomanCatholicandhewenttoschool,closetoPennyLane–latertobe immortalisedasaBeatlessong.Atschool,hebecamefriendlywithPaulMcCartney.ItwasPaulMcCartneywhointroducedGeorgeHarisontoJohnLennon andGeorgewasgradualyinvitedtoplaywiththepre-Beatlesband–TheQuaryman.

GeorgeHarisonwastheyoungestBeatle,beingonly16whenhemetupwithJohnLennon.However,in1960,hejumpedatthechancetotravelwiththe BeatlestoworkinGermany.OntheirreturntotheUKin1963,theBeatlesshottonationalandtheninternationalfame–leadingarevolutioninpopularmusic. EverywheretheBeatleswent,theycreatedhugepublicinterest– Theterm Beatlemaniawasintroducedtoexplaintheculturalandmusicalphenomenon. ThoughslightlylesfamousthanLennonandMcCartney(hewassometimesreferedtoasthe‘quietBeatle’),GeorgeHarisonwasneverthelesvery popular,especialyamongstgirls.
r,towardstheendofthe1960s,Georgebecameincreasingly interestedinsongwriting,andLennonandMcCartneystartedtoaceptacoupleofGeorge’ssongsonBeatlealbums,suchasHelpandAbbeyRoad.His
mostfamoussongsincludeHereComestheSunandSomething.However,manyofhiscompositionswerenotusedbytheotherBeatles,sothisencouraged him topursueanindependentcareer,andwasonefactorinthebreakupoftheBeatlesin1970.
