Specialty Mounts & Finishes
FULL FINISH BACKS:
Full finish metal backs, slightly recessed or flush with returns, are soldered completely around the perimeter. Available in painted
or polished stainless. A typical “Finished” back will not be soldered to the letter returns or have the same seams as the face of the letter.
DOUBLE RAILS:
Mounting hardware can be set in
line for rails. Gemini can provide
mounting rails made of C-Channel.
Ideal for ease of installation where the letters can be installed on the rails prior to leaving for job site. Gemini will ship rails unassembled from letters. Rails can be painted in any standard color.
BOTTOM & TOP RAILS: Any bottom or top stud mounted letters can also be ordered with rail for mounting. This installation method is not available on all letter types and sizes. Rails can be painted in any standard color. C-Channel is used for all rail stock. Letters in all exterior environments are recommended to have tie-backs. Gemini does not supply tie-backs for installation, as mounting surface and environmental conditions dictate the
composition of the tie-backs. However, a threaded tie back mounting hole is provided in the back, near the top 8”+ of letters. Please call for quote on any bottom or top rail mounted fabricated letters.
DETACHABLE STUDS:
Allows easy and clean servicing of letters up to 24” after installation. Ideal when used in combination with lit letters, allowing access to LED modules without the exposed hardware (typical on removable cans). Integrating a 1.5” stand off. Additional spacers can be added to increase the stand-off distance.
At right, the two piece detachable stud is shown. One wrench is shipped per four detachable studs. This product is also available for sale separately, see page 222.
a number of factors such as the LED color, volume, stand-off from the wall, as well as the mounting surface color and sheen. Typical halo lit letters are mounted 1-1/2”off the wall.
The mounting surface color & sheen have the greatest impact on the final look. Light colored surfaces with a matte finish will create the most desired halo look. Avoid mounting on dark surfaces with a gloss sheen, as darker colors will absorb light and a gloss sheen will act like a mirror, reflecting LED modules and not creating a good halo effect. As a general rule, clear Lexan backs work well with light colored and matte (non-glossy) mounting surfaces. Light diffused Lexan may help on darker surfaces, but will not increase the range of the halo glow.
EXAMPLE OF LETTERS WITHOUT DIFFUSING LEXAN ON GLOSSY SURFACE: Letters can be halo lit with LEDs applied to plastic backs. These backs are available either clear or light diffused (Trans white) Lexan. Halo effects are created by
