A week after the hiring of state-renowned Josh Hender- son as its new football coach, Immanuel High School has hired a former Fresno State football standout as its new ath- letic director.
Joe Bernardi, who played on the Bulldogs' offensive line from 2006-2010 before a num- ber of assistant coaching stops collegiately, was announced as the school's AD on July 30. He replaces Josh Franco, who has resigned as AD and the Eagles'
head varsity baseball coach and accepted a Special Education position with the Fowler Uni- fied School District.
“We are excited to add Joe to
our Athletic Department team.

control coach for the Uni- versity of Ten- nessee in 2011- 2012. He then coached the of- fensive line and tight ends for the University of Oregon as a graduate assis-
on to play in the National Foot- ball League.
In its news release, the Im- manuel Schools said Bernardi will draw on his collegiate expe- riences in leading the school's athletics program.
On July 23, Immanuel an- nounced it had hired Henderson as its new head football coach. Henderson had compiled a 94- 32 record in 10 seasons while building Grace Brethren in Simi Valley into a state power, culmi- nating with a Division 2AA state title in 2018.

Immanuel High has named Kip Thiessen as the program's new var- sity baseball coach.
Thiessen, who has served as an assistant with the Eagles under Josh Franco for seven seasons, was promoted by the school on Aug. 3. Franco is leaving his IHS post as coach and athletic director to take a position with the Fowler Unified School District. He posted a 181-114-2 record in 11 seasons.
“Immanuel is such an amazing place. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to serve as the head varsity base- ball coach," Thiessen said in a news release. "Doing what I love, in- stilling the Word of God daily, and being sur- rounded by the Body of Christ is a blessing all the way around.”
