Blood Drive for the Veterans American Red Cross is planned from 9:30 a.m. "until the blood runs out" April 21 at the Sanger Amvets, 812 K St. Hot dogs, chips and soda all day.
AMVETS brought back its chili dogs from 5 to 8 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of the month. So that will be May 2 and May 16. Everybody who’s anybody will be there. Come early. It’s popular. There will also be kraut dogs, mustard dogs and Frito boats. Details, George 559-286-5667.

Apache Closet is to be honored by HandsOn Central California at the nonprofit’s annual Hands Across the Valley Awards 2018 on April 25. Apache Closet, founded and operated by Monica de Pruneda, will be receiving the “Youth Organization of the Year” award at the event sponsored by HandsOn and ABC30 KFSN. The Apache Closet program and its student volunteers work to eliminate bullying, raise breast cancer awareness, stage food and clothing drives, participate
in self-esteem boosting boot camps and every year stages a fashion show in the Sanger High multipurpose room with prom dresses

About 60 volunteers — mostly professional types with lots of experience — went 17 rounds with about 730 high school seniors today. And those were 15-minute rounds. Grueling? Not so much, according to those who granted Sanger High's senior exit interviews. But they are must-pass to graduate. Jazleny Maldonado said she wasn't stressed in the least. "It was a breeze," she said.
