Fresno County Sheriff's PIO
The Fresno County Sher- iff’s Office wants to make the public aware of a new scam that’s been brought toourattention. Wehave received reports from citi- zens saying they received a phone call from a man who identifies himself as Lt.
Ron Hayes with the Fresno CountySheriff’sOffice. The caller claims to have a busi- ness matter that needs to be taken care of and directs the person to call them back at
a number of (559) 500-1980. The caller will reach a re- cording that directs them to press zero so they can speak witharepresentative. Once
that is done, the caller is prompted to leave a message with personal information for a call back.
That phone line is not as- sociated with the real Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
If you receive one of these calls, do not call the number and do not leave any personal information.
Our experience with scams like these show that the scammer will often use scare tactics to try to get the target to pay with cash or gift cards in order to stay out of legal trouble.
The Fresno County Sher- iff’s Office never makes solicitations for money or asks for the payment of fines over the phone.
Our office does in fact have a Lt. Ron Hayes, how- ever, the real Lt. Hayes is not making these calls.
We know that scam art- ists can be creative, doing research about agencies in order to pose as a person from the agency and appear authentic to their targets.
If you receive a similar call, do not give in to the caller’s demands and do not give him any of your per- sonal information.
Please document the call, such as the caller’s name or phone number and report

Lisa Faye Farmer
A shining light arrived in Heav- en early Friday morning, April 6, 2018. Lisa Faye Farmer left us unexpectedly after suffering
a cerebral brain aneurysm. She was born on September 21, 1961, and was the third daughter of Gwen Farmer, and the late Bruce Farmer.
Raised in Sanger she was a Sanger High School Apache, graduating in 1979. She be- came a phlebotomist and worked
at Fresno Community Hospital, and Selma Hospital for many years.
Auntie Lisa was adored by her nieces, nephews, and step-daughter. She was always there to help them and was a very important part of their everyday lives and supported them in all their activities, never missing a ball game, dance recital, school awards, and most im- portantly their birthday parties.
A special thank you to Adventist Medical Center of Selma, Dr. Brian Woo, Stephanie, Jennifer, and the Emergency Room staff for the care and compassion they provided for us and especially to Lisa.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Farmer; her grandparents, EC and Zemmie Cagle, and Thomas and Pearl Farmer.
She is survived by her mother, Gwen Farmer of Kingsburg, CA; sisters, Tamara Plemons and husband Bill of Kingsburg, CA, Kelly Mommer and husband Scott of Clovis, CA, and Sheri Steele and husband Todd of Kingsburg, CA; nieces and nephews, Eric and Trent Plemons of Kingsburg, CA, Janay and Ashley Mommer of Clovis, CA, Garrett, Ryan, Brandon, and Nicholas Steele of Kingsburg, CA; and step-daughter, Tressa Simmons of Fresno. She is also survived by her two furry babies, Sassy and Lily.
A Graveside Service was held at Sanger Cemetery on Friday, April 13, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Valley Children’s Hospital, 9300 Valley Children’s Place, Madera, CA 93636.
