Only two swim meets remain for the Dinuba High boys and girls teams before the Central Sequoia League Championships that will be held on Apr. 24 at Dinuba.
The Emperors hosted Coalinga in a CSL dual meet on Mar. 27. Dinuba opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. The team of Natalie Ceballos, Mikenna Curtis, Vanessa Hernandez and Anissa Rodriguez had a time of 2 minutes, 20.03 seconds.
In the 200 freestyle, Jackie Resendez won the event in 2:47.50 and a few events later Hernandez and Ceballos went 1-2 in the 50 free with times of 29.45 and 30.58.
Curtis also posted wins in the 100 free (1:04.39) and 100 breaststroke (1:23.43).
Other swimmers recording victories
were Jazmine Hernandez in the 100 butterfly (1:34.45) and Ceballos in the 100 back (1:20.96).
For the boys, Cole Shott won the 50 free in 25.35 and Gannon Marroquin captured the 100 free in 1:08.26. Noah Kiehn was 2nd in a time of 1:18.623 and teammate Eric Rodriguez was 3rd in 1:19.51.
In a meet against on Mar. 19 at Kingsburg High, Curtis captured the 100 breast in a time of 1:27.01.
Curtis also swam the second leg of the 200 MR that recorded a time of 2:15.30 for 2nd place. Other members of the relay team were V. Hernandez, Angelina Arreola and Alex Lacy.
The 200 free relay of J. Hernandez, Curtis, Ayana Lopez and Ceballos were 2nd in a time of 2:08.88.
Dinuba will be participating in the the Sunnyside Sprints on Saturday, before travelling to face Exeter on Tuesday.

The renovated track and field facility at Orosi High is becoming quite a hit for athletes on the Cardinals team.
Orosi has posted some solid times both at home and away as the Cardinals prepare for the Farmers Classic tomorrow afternoon at the Immanuel Sports Complex.
Coach Ben White said the team currently has 70 athletes and the season is going very well.
“We’re undefeated in league and our kids are getting better,” White said. “It helps to be home.”
The Cardinals hosted their first meet on March 13 along with Riverdale and Fresno Christian.
Claudio Vasquez won the 100 and 200 meters with times of 11.72 and 23.90, both are his fastest of the season. Teammate Ezequiel Zapien also had a PR at that meet in the 100 in 12.09 and posted his best mark in the 200 in 24.74 on Mar. 27 in a home meet against Minarets and Parlier. The Cardinals dominated the Mustangs and Panthers capturing 22 of 28 events.

The Dinuba High baseball team battled back from two late deficits against visiting Exeter and won it in the bottom of the 11th inning on a walk-off single by Elijah Lozoya in a wild 8-7 Central Sequoia League game Monday night.
The Emperors (6-8, 3-3) started the game-winning rally with a leadoff double from Michael Gomez. Ethan Tobias entered the game as a pinch runner for Gomez and Ridge Huckaby drew a walk. Dinuba’s next batter, Josh Meave, singled to load the bases setting the stage for Lozoya who delivered the game-winning hit on a full count.
The Emperors struck first scoring a pair of runs in the bottom half of the opening frame on a run-scoring single from Noah Cortez, who later scored on an error.
The Monarchs would add a run in the top half of the second and scored three more runs in the top of the fifth for a 4-2 lead. Exeter would add one more run in the top of the seventh as Dinuba was staring at a three-run deficit.

Diaz continues to shine for Emps

Diaz’s mark was good enough to fend off Shafter’s Michael Vander Poel (43- 4) and Jesus Renteria (42-05).
Diaz also reeled in another first place finish in the discus event with a throw of 129-4.
In the track events, Diego Estrada finished second in the 1,600 with a time of 4 minutes, 42.57 seconds and Jonathan Padilla was ninth in 5:03.12.
Danny Aurajo placed fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:11.12 and Jesse Gonzalez was 13th in 2:37.88.
The highest-individual for the girls team was Victoria Tapia, who finished second in the high jump with a height of 4-6. Tapia also was seventh in the long jump at 13-2 1⁄2.
Natalie Crisosto had a time of 6:05.02 in the 1,600 which earned her a third
place finish and teammates Luzmi Ramirez and Yaquelin Avilez were ninth and 17th place with times of 6:14.10 and 6:48.78. The three athletes also ran in the 800 as Ramirez was 7th in 2:51.75 while Crisosto was eighth in 2:56.18 and Avilez was right behind in 9th in 2:59.77.

Dinuba High’s Estevan Diaz is having quite a track and field season.
The junior thrower found himself at the top of the shot put standings with a winning throw of 44-feet-8 inches at the Jared Verbeek Invitational on Friday in Visalia.

Going up against a powerhouse program can be both awe- inspiring and disheartening.
The Buchanan High softball team has a high-standard in softball capturing section and league titles over the past decade while Dinuba, fielding one of its deepest teams under coach Bryan Patterson, was more than up to the challenge in facing the Bears in the Buchanan Preseason Tournament final.
Buchanan (12-2) capitalized on five errors in the second inning as the Bears went on to post a 6-4 win over the Emperors Saturday afternoon.
