Employees of the Sun West Fruit Company in Parlier stood in the parking lot of the plant as fire crews went inside to investigate smoke that was seen coming from the building at about 5 p.m. the afternoon of July 27. After searching, firefighters discovered a burned out air conditioning motor was to blame.
The public still has an opportunity to check out the Paul Mitchell Exhibit at the Reedley Museum. The exhibit was set up this spring in honor of Mitch- ell, the longtime Reedley High School educator, baseball coach and sports announcer who died in January 2018. The exhibit features highlights from his teaching and coaching career at RHS, including mementoes of the Pirates' Sequoia Division section champion 1971 team. The field at the Pirates' newly- remodeled varsity baseball complex is planned to be named in Mitchell's honor. The Reedley Museum, at 1752 10th Street in downtown Reedley, is open Tues- days and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The mu- seum also will be open the first Friday of the month through October during Alive After Five events.
