The View From Here
I sat across the table from my aunt and my mom. It was the af- ternoon of Thanksgiv-
ing and we'd just sat down to eat.
A small group of my family members, five to be exact, gathered at my cous- in’s house for the holiday.
We decided to make the best of it and be grateful for what we had in that mo- ment; each other.
This was definitely a stark comparison to last year’s Thanksgiving. There were a lot more family members and a lot more laughter. “We need to make the best of this,” my aunt said. And she was right. The year 2020 has by far been one of the most challenging we’ve faced as a society.
My mom lost her job due to COVID-19. She men- tioned that she’s trying to find things to do with her time, but it’s been extreme- ly difficult. My mom actu- ally worked in the day care at the gym I attend.
The gym re-opened for a brief period of time and for once in the last seven months, my life felt like it was returning to some king of normalcy. Until of course it wasn’t.
COVID-19 numbers again began to surge and the gym closed its doors again.
I will add however that is a small price to pay in com- parison to the millions of lives across the world who have lost a loved one to the deadly virus.
I know that my gym will eventually open again and slowly our lives will return to normal. For those who have lost a loved one due to COVID-19, their lives will never return to normal.
As we enter the Christ- mas holiday, I would like to remind everyone to practice kindness, and practice mask wearing.
At the moment it’s the least we can do to prevent anyone else from falling victim to this virus.

We are heartbroken for
anyone that was unable to en- joy the experience in person.” The route for the parade began on North Avenue near Reedley High School, however reports of traffic congestions were reported as far back as Frankwood Avenue near T.L.
Reed School.
The parade included a
number of local floats as well as musical and dance perfor- mances by the Lifehouse Val- ley Church Choir, the Menno- nite Brethren bell choir, and the On Point Dance Academy.
Reedley's 4H Club took home first place for this years float. The Kings Canyon Uni- fied School District's trans- portation department took home second place and Dark- side Customz took home third place.

It was a greater success than originally anticipated.
The “Holiday Lane” reverse parade in downtown Reedley, was held on the evening of Nov. 28 and so many specta-
tors showed up to the drive- thru event that traffic jams were reported throughout the city well after the event was scheduled to finish.
“Unfortunately, it was so successful we were unable to accommodate the overwhelm- ing number of cars waiting to
get through,” wrote Erik Va- lencia, Executive Director for the Greater Reedley Chamber of Commerce on the cham- bers Facebook page.
“We would like to thank all of our participants and volun- teers who stayed past 9 p.m. in the cold to take in as many
