Weather for Apache Country
The good news is that bright sunshine and no rain is predicted for Christmas Day and for the weekend before Christmas. The not
so good news is that the lack of rain creates a possibility there could be early morning and late evening patchy fog. Between now and Christmas the nighttime temperatures will be a little warmer, well above freezing. Daytime temperatures will continue to be in the low 60s or high 50s.

This week's featured pet is "Apache," a new arrival at the shelter.
Animal control officer Ma- rio Irazoqui called the little guy Apache because he was found on Monday wander- ing the streets near the high school.
Apache is probably about 2 years old, a Chihuahua/ter- rier mix, who looks like he may have been on the streets for awhile and is very much hoping for a forever home.
Some of the other dogs hoping to be in a forever home this Christmas are:
• Bear is about 8 years old, a shepherd mix. He's already up to date on shots, neutered and potty trained. He prefers people to dogs.
• Adak is a silly, playful, feistybighuskypuppy, who was picked up while wander- ing in the Greenwood/Holt area.
• Queenie is a 3 year old pitbull who loves water. She's up to date with shots and spayed. She likes other dogs with a proper introduction
andshe'sokaywith kids.
• Cowboy is about 3 years
old, a boxer/pitbull/pug mix who loves laps and hugs, said shelter volunteer coordinator Kim Reed.
You can meet many of the dogs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at the Trac- tor Supply Co. on Herndon Avenue, just west of Fowler Avenue in Clovis.
Call Mario at (559) 618- 9071 or message the Sanger Animal Shelter Facebook page and leave your email address to find out more about the adoption process which will involve home checks.
Let Mario know if you're interested in providing a temporary foster home for any of the shelter dogs or if you are able to donate
a warm blanket or doggy sweater becauseitgetsvery cold inside the metal building that serves as the shelter.

With only three members of the five person commit- tee present, a decision was finally reached on a way to define the proper use of Mea- sure S public safety dollars.
With committee secretary Melissa Griggs presiding
at the Dec. 11 meeting, the oversight committee voted 3-0 to recommend a proposed new ordinance to the city council.
The most veteran member of the committee, James Mi- ser, submitted his resignation prior to the meeting. Com- mitteechairpersonJohnny Perez was absent.
Griggs and committee members Frank Valles and Jacob Villagomez agreed to recommend a proposed new ordinance that used both
a base dollar figure and a percentage of money to be
spent on public safety from the general fund before Mea- sure S money could be spent to supplement public safety personnel, equipment and services.
They considered three proposed ordinances pre- pared by city attorney Hilda Cantu Montoy.
One of the ordinances
was based on a general
fund base amount, another on a percentage of general fund spending and the third, selected by the committee, was a "hybrid that used both a base amount and a percent- age," said Montoy.
The recommendation will nowgotothecitycouncilfor final approval, revision or rejection.
