Wanda Lucille Goossen
March 7th, 1932 - September 15th, 2020
Wanda Lucille Cheek, Goossen
was born on March 7th, 1932 and
was led into heaven on September
15th, 2020. She now sees Jesus face to
face in all of His glory and fully knows
the wonders of His love.
Wanda accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at
the age of 10. Everything she did, she did as unto her Lord.
Wanda met Don Goossen at Reedley High School. ey were married on October 1st, 1950 and enjoyed over 50 years of marriage at the time of Don’s passing in 2003.
Wanda and Don raised four daughters together: Linda Jarman, Donna Tincup (Doug), Carol Fite (Kevin), and Ruth Nourian (Dan).
Our mom worked at three di erent skilled nursing facili-
ties here in Reedley: Reedley Convalescent Hospital, Pleas- ant View Manor and Sierra View Homes. She continued to volunteer at Sierra View Homes a er her retirement as she loved serving Jesus thru this ministry. She also had a passion for missions. She and Don spent much time volunteering
at Sugar Pine Christian Camp, Kodiak Baptist Mission and Oneida Baptist School in Kentucky, as well as actively serving at Redeemer’s Church (Reedley First Baptist).
Wanda was blessed with many wonderful sister/girlfriends. Many in her group of friends thought of her as a second mother or they would argue as to which one of them was Wanda’s best friend. She loved going out to eat, to the movies, playing cards, going shopping or just laughing and having fun with her friends.
Wanda is survived by her four daughters and their hus- bands, 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She loved her family and we all loved her.
We would like to thank all of the caregivers and nurses at Sierra View Homes, who were not only essential workers,
but who became family for our mom during the Covid 19 quarantine. A special thank you to Julia for her kindness and communication and for placing our mom in a room with Betty and Betty. ese two roommates brought much needed company, comfort and laughter to her.
A special thank you to Tassie Dutcher for caring for our mom as a daughter.
And thank you to our sister Linda, who God in His provi- dence had come to live with our mom over 14 years ago. He knew that if Linda was not living with her, our mom could not have stayed in her home for as long as she did. God pro- vided for our sister and ful lled our mom’s desire to be in her home until the last six months of her life which was spent at Sierra View Homes. ank-you Jesus.
A family memorial was held on Friday, September 25th.
Psalm 116:7-9
“Be at rest once more O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. For You, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living.” As our mom would
say, “God is good”.
