Varsity boys swimmers from Sanger and Reedley high schools hit the water for the start of a freestyle race at the Sanger High Aquatics complex on Feb. 19. It was the first competition at the pool and school since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020.

Prep sports returning to action with outdoor events

High school sports fans itching to see actual competition after nearly a year of coronavirus pandemic-caused, can- cellations, rescheduling and schedule delays.
On Feb.19, dozens of swimmers, parents/ families and spectators gathered at the Sanger Aquatics complex as Sanger High School host- ed longtime rival Reed- ley High in an unofficial meet. The crowd cheered on and supported swims and divers who were working the bugs out and still looking to build en- durance.

After going 11 months and two days without a sporting event, Reedley College returned to action with two women’s golf wins last week.
The defending Nor Cal champions defeat- ed Taft last week as the Cougars did not have enough players for a team score in either match. Reedley opened action at Buena Vista GC in Taft with a team
score of 379, led by sophomore Mya Chou (Golden West, Visalia) with an 83 (good for medalist honors. McK- enzie Quinn (Clovis East) followed with an 84, followed by Kayla Hernandez (Paso Ro- bles) with an even 100 and Cynthia Reyes (Golden West) with a 111.

Dinuba Youth Football signups set for March 20

Dinuba Youth Foot- ball and Dinuba Youth Cheer registrations have been pushed back to Saturday, March 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Leagues are open to children ages 5-14 years.
Players and cheer
are asked to bring an original or copy of birth certificate medical in- surance card and a $75 deposit fee.

Kings River UESD TK/Kindergarten Registration March1&March8at
New London Child Development Center

Kings River Union Elementary School District is planning three registration sessions for parents whose children will be entering Kindergarten in the fall. Registration at New London Child Development Center will be held on March 1 & March 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Parents must call the New London CDC at 595-0317 to make an appointment. Registration at Kings River School will be held on March 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m. Appointments to register can be made by calling the school at 897-7209.
In order to enroll in Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year, children must be age 5 on or before September 1, 2021. If your child turns 5 between September 2, 2021 – March 15, 2022 and you would like to enroll your child in Transitional Kindergarten, please contact Kings River School.
To register their children, parents must provide:
• The child’s birth, hospital or baptismal certificate to verify date of birth;
• Immunization records showing up-to-date vaccinations for polio, DPT, MMR, varicella and hepatitis B, along with a current tuberculosis skin test with results.
• A complete and current physical and dental exam.
• Telephone numbers for home, parents place of
employment and a family physician;
• Proof of residence in the Kings River Union School
District (utility bill, rent or mortgage receipts are sufficient
proof of residence).
A child will not be enrolled without these documents.

Immanuel High School held its first ath- letic competition (al- though unofficial) in al- most a year on Feb. 16, when the Eagles' tennis teams hosted Fresno Christian at the Imman- uel Sports Complex ten- nis courts.
The meetings were actually practice scrim- mages, so no official scores were kept in matches. Still, the play- ers had a chance to get in match-intense compe- tition in preparation for a revised spring season for both teams.
