Police warn of phone scam involving RPD
The Reedley Exponent A2 Thursday, June 13, 2019
RMCHS graduation
Staff Report
The Reedley Police De- partment is warning the public about a phone scam regarding calls to residents from an unknown subject falsely identifying them- selves as a Reedley police officer.
A June 6 news release from the department said the calls have been com- ing from the department’s (559) 637-4250 number. However, department of- ficials said the number has been cloned in the scam. The caller tells residents who answer that they have
an arrest warrant from the Federal Bureau of Investi- gation and are asking for Social Security numbers and other personal infor- mation.
Reedley police officials stress that the caller is not an RPD employee and that the department would never call to get this type of infor- mation. They strongly urge to not give any personal in- formation when this type of call is received.
If you receive this type of call, hang up and call the department at 637-4250 to speak with an officer or a dispatcher.

Reedley Middle College High School celebrated its annual graduation cer- emony on June 5 inside the Performing Arts Theatre on the Reedley High School campus.
“We are excited this evening to be celebrating the accomplishments of 33 students who have done some pretty amazing things this year,” said Ron Pack, principal.
Of the 33 graduating seniors — the largest class in the school’s past five com- mencements — 11 were recognized for earning an associates degree along with their high school diploma.
“The most challenging class I had was the first one I ever took. I was still getting used to the college classes, and I wasn’t really prepared for the class,” said Zenon Lopez. “I didn’t prepare my- self, [and] there was a lot of freedom, but as the class continued, I became more responsible, I began to turn in my class- work on time.”
Valedictorians included Dante Anto- nio, Clara Ramirez, and Antony Serrano. Pack said he was extremely proud of the senior class and those who earned

The statement also in- formed the public that the closure would be permitted under Penal Code 409.5(a) and the Fresno County Ordinance 13.32.080.
“The outflow is controlled by the Army Corp of Engi- neers up at Pine Flat Dam,” said Nikolich. “Depending on the inflow from the snow melt that they’re receiving at Pine Flat that is what they de- termine on how much they’re
going to release.”
Other than a couple of ju-
veniles who entered Cricket Hollow Park and were quickly escorted off, residents seemed to abide by the rules of the re- cent closure.
“It will be common to see people try to sneak on the river even after a closure,” said Nikolich. “And that’s a portion of our job is to make sure that all the people that want to sneak on or come down to the river or bring their kids down so they can splash around we prevent them from doing that.”
He also added when the river is open, deputies make sure to educate people on the hazards of the water before they get in.

things.”
