Crash injures Orosi woman, son arrested for DUI

An Orosi woman suffered major injuries in a solo ve- hicle accident on Thursday, Aug. 15 and her son was ar- rested for driving under the influence, said the California Highway Patrol.
According to officer with the CHP, Visalia Area Office, a call for service came in at approximately 10:55 p.m. re- garding a solo vehicle traffic
collision on Millwood Drive north of State Route 216 in the Woodlake area. Both CHP and medical personnel responded to the scene and found Rosa Maria Sanchez Munguia, 51, of Orosi with major injuries to her head and body.
Sanchez, according to the CHP, had been traveling un- secured in the bed of a 1998 Chevrolet pickup when her son, Jose Sanchez, 23, of Woodlake attempted to make
an unsafe turn from the north- bound shoulder of Millwood Drive, north of State Route 216. Officers say as Sanchez attempted to make the turn his mother was thrown from the pickup and sustained ma- jor injuries.
She was transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Cen- ter for her injuries and was expected to survive. Sanchez

Aug. 12 on Academy Avenue in Sanger involved straightening the curve at Anna- dale Avenue, by Chuck Wagon restaurant, and widening portions of Academy from 11th Street to North Avenue and finally changing out traffic signals at North Avenue for ones with protected left turns. There will be access to businesses along Academy during the construction.
