The Reedley Police Department handled 541 public-initiated and offi- cer-initiated calls for ser- vice, with 108 dispatched as Priority 1 calls. Asako Takusagawa
April 25, 1920 ~ March 30, 2021
Alice Nakamura was born in Visalia, California on December 29 1924. She died in her sleep of natural causes on February 10, 2022 at home with
Ariet and Mike, her son. She was 97.
She was interned at Poston Arizona soon after graduating
from Woodlake high school.
She married Paul Suyeda and moved to Los Angeles, When he
died, she moved back to Visalia to raise her four children. She eventually went back to school and earned her teaching degree. She taught at Woodlake elementary school until her retirement.
She married Yo Nakamura and moved to Reedley. They retired and made a new life together enjoying the retired life.
She enjoyed traveling the world, and the simple pleasures of life like playing cards with her friends and the company of family. She will always be remembered for her quiet strength and fortitude and cheerful attitude.
She is survived by her brother James Morioka, her children Mike Suyeda, Robert Suyeda, and Richard, Suyeda, her daughter Gayle preceded her in May 2013; and her children through marriage Pattie McConnell and Ken Nakamura, Ron Nakamura preceded her in June, 2013.
She is survived by 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to one of the memorials to the Japanese-American internment or a charity of your choice.

On March 30, 2021 Asako Takusagawa passed away at the age of 100. Asako was born on April 25, 1920. She graduated from Reedley High School as Salutatorian and attended UC Berkley’s School of Art until the beginning of WWII when she had to leave school go back to Orange Cove and ultimately sent to Poston, AZ with her family. After the WWII, she traveled to Chicago, Ill where she stayed with her brother Noburo for a short period but ended up living alone in Arlington Heights for 60 years. She finally decided to move to Oxnard, CA for her last remaining days where she unfortunately contracted Covid-19 in as Assisted Care Facility where she was being cared for after suffering a Bisected Aorta. She passed quietly at home.
Her life was difficult from the very start living in Orange Cove, CA. Being poor, she worked as a maid for wealthy families while attending school in UC Berkley working for an Art Degree. She taught school while she was interned in Poston during WWII. In Chicago, she held odd jobs until she was accepted by a School for Draftsman. After she graduated, she worked as Associate Draftsman for the same company with Mel Bolt. He decided to leave and start his own company. Asako made the risky decision to go along with him. Her job title was officially, Draftsman for Mel Bolt and Associates and she acted as his Personal Assistant but in reality, she was more like a silent partner and from day one and served as an integral part of his success.
Asako was preceded in death by her father, Kesajiro, her mother, Masaue (Muto) Takusagawa, brothers Mike (Imaji) and Noburo. She is survived by her Nieces Nancy Lowry, Julie Barsoom and Michelle Olvera, Nephew Michael Takusagawa and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday March 12 at the Dopkins Chapel in Reedley at 11am.

Benjamin a. Olvera Sr.
August 29, 1947 ~ February 11, 2022
On February 11, 2022 Benjamin Abel Olvera Sr. passed away at the age of 74. Benjamin was born on August 29, 1947. He graduated from Reedley High School, Reedley Junior College and attended San Diego State University. He settled in San Diego, CA where he worked in Auto sales and management for over 30 years. He married his wife Michelle (Takusagawa) on April 12, 1969. They raised two sons, Benjamin Olvera Jr. and Ethan Olvera.
Ben loved to sing, accompanying himself with his guitar and reminiscing the days he played in a band with his two best friends, David Barsoom and Paul Buxman. Ben loved to camp, hike, snow and water ski. He was an excellent water skier and loved boating in general. He always had a good joke and quick wit. His compassion for humanity was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends.
Ben was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas, his mother, Margaret, brothers George and Joe. He is survived by his wife Michelle, sons Benjamin and Ethan, sister Ramona, brothers Nick Jr. and Carlos, grandchildren Vance, Joya, Xaiemian, and Bryce along with numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12th at Dopkins Reedley Funeral Home Chapel, 2220 Reed Avenue, Reedley, CA 93654. Viewing will be from 9:00-10:00 AM.
Memorial Remembrance will be at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers
a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association is appreciated.
April 18, 1922 ~ February 19, 2022
RoseMarie Wilson was born April 18, 1922 to Albert and Minna Sophia (Muery) Bolli .
She left this earth to be with Jesus on February 19, 2022, 2 months shy of her 100th birthday.
She grew up in Sanger, Ca. with her half- sister, Frieda and two brothers, Albert and Johnny. When she was 18, she married the love of her life, Raymond Wilson and together they built a life and had three daughters. As a young girl, RoseMarie learned the art of quilting but had little time in her life to enjoy the art until her husband became ill in the 1990’s when he helped her design and create them. After he died of cancer in 1996, her quilting took off and she made many beautiful quilts. In 2000 she, her youngest daughter, Patty and granddaughter, Crystal went to Switzerland, the homeland of her father. She said “It was the trip of a lifetime.” She talked about Switzerland all her life and she was very proud of her heritage.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her half-sister, Frieda, brothers Albert, Johnny, and grandson Fred Harlan.
She leaves behind her 3 daughters, Janice Harlan (Melvin), Betty Baxter and Patricia Hanscom (Russell). Also surviving her are 6 grandchildren, Scott Harlan, Rebecca McClure (Steve), Deborah Jensen, Jeffery Anderson (Jennifer), Andrew Hanscom and Crystal Hanscom and fourteen great-grandchildren all who love her dearly and will miss her greatly.
RoseMarie was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her.
At RoseMarie’s request, a graveside service was held Feb. 28, 2022 at the Sanger Del-Rey Cemetery under the direction of
Wallin Funeral Home in Sanger, Calif. Remebrances may be made to The American Cancer Society,
St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
