The eight top-scoring
teams in the preliminary rounds hold a draft and each chooses two other teams to join them in the playoffs. They will be competing to earn a spot to the first World Championship in Houston, Texas.
The competition shows students that the technologi- cal fields hold many oppor- tunities. Many first students end up pursuing jobs in sci- ence and technology and will become the future of those fields in the Central Valley.
It is an important compo- nent in supporting our kids in advancing careers in STEM with the hope of keeping kids local once they graduate.

Mr. Olivarez, 54, died March 22, 2018. He was a medical and dental claims auditor.
He is survived by parents Frank N. Olivarez and Esther R. Olivarez of Sanger; sister Vicky Hopper of Sanger; and brother Ricky Olivarez of Arizona.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. on April 5 at New Life Ap- ostolic Church in Sanger.

Josephine Robison
A graveside service for Mrs. Josephine Idell Robison of Fresno was held on March 29 at Sanger Cemetery.
Mrs. Robison, 77, died March 26, 2018. She was a home- maker.
She is survived by husband Wayne Robison of Fresno; sons Michael Robison of Kerman and Nathan Robison of Fresno; brother Edmund James Johnson of Clovis; three grandchil- dren; and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Robison was preceded in death by her son Derrick Robison; daughter Jeanette Stithem; mother Elda Grote; and step-father Ralph Grote.
Wallin's Sanger Funeral Home made the arrangements.
Marcelina Velez
The holy rosary will be recited and a funeral mass cel- ebrated for Mrs. Marcelina Moreno Velez of Fresno at 9 a.m. on April 6 at St. Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church in Fresno.
Mrs. Velez, 82, died March 31, 2018. She was an Avon cos- metics representative.
She is survived by brother Paul Moreno of Visalia; and sisters Carmen M. Ocampo of Los Angeles and Mary Chavez Perez of Fresno.
Mrs. Velez was preceded in death by her husband Alfredo Velez; parents Pablo and Bernadina Moreno; brothers Charlie Moreno, Apolinar Chavez Jr. and Joe Chavez; and sisters Christina Castillo and Lucy Martinez.
Visitation will be from 8-9 a.m. on April 6 at the church. Wallin's Sanger Funeral Home made the arrangements.

Rosie Coronado
Rosie peacefully passed away surrounded by fam- ily and friends on March 22, 2018 at age 68. She was raised in Reedley and graduat- ed from Reedley High School. She lived in Sanger since 1973, worked for the Internal Revenue Services for over 35 years.
She is survived by her husband
Ernesto Coronado; three sons, Ernesto Jr., & Kath- elena, Brian, and Miguel; daughter Lucy & Jaime; seven grandchildren, two brothers, and five sisters.
Viewing will be held at Wallin’s Funeral Home on Thursday, April 5th at 5pm-9pm.
Services will be held Friday, April 6th at 10am at St. Mary’s Church, 838 “O” Street in Sanger.
Interment at Sanger Cemetery following services.
