This is an example, in the 1800 block of Jensen Avenue, of what police saw dur- ing a pedestrian safety operation. Many drivers were either not paying attention or had no regard for the pedestrian. This near miss earned the driver a citation and a hefty fine.
Here are some traffic safety tips that will hopefully prevent drivers from getting citations and pedestrians from being struck by a car:
• Be alert and always stop for pedestrians;
• Obey traffic signs, signals and markings;
• Don't race to make it through a yellow light;
• Observe speed limits to make it easier to stop for pedestrians;
• Keep your eyes on the road and put away handheld devices and other distractions - never text and drive;
• Stop for school buses when they stop and display flashing red lights and/or a stop sign is extended from the side of the
bus - drivers from both directions
must stop because children are most vulnerable when loading or unloading from a bus; and,
• Let pedestrians get all the way through a crosswalk before proceeding.

With tears we watched you suffer, We watched you fade away, Our hearts were slowly breaking, As you fought so hard to stay. You did not want to leave us, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home....
Happy Birthday we love and miss you so much. Your wife and girls
