Weather for
APACHE COUNTRY
The Apaches kick off the football season tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in Tom Flores Stadium when they host the Reedley Pirates.
There will be an Apache football game in Tom Flores Stadium on the day after school starts. Really!
It's the earliest start of
the football season for the Apaches and it may be close to the warmest. The tempera- ture at the 7:30 p.m. kickoff is predicted to be in the mid- 90s. That's cooler than it was last week when the Apaches scrimmaged Redwood in
Visalia and the Apaches didn't seem to have a prob- lem with either the weather or the Redwood Rangers.
We'll enjoy a slight cool down starting next Tuesday. It's predicted the tempera- tures will be remaining un- der 100 degrees for the rest of the month.

The Pets of the Week are:
• Kinpo, a 3-4 year old pitbull boy who gets along well with everyone and loves to walk and pose for pictures.
• Bruce is a high energy shepherd mix who is prob- ably not even a year old. He loves to run and play.
• Isabella is a happy pitbull lady who also gets along with everyone and just wants to cuddle and give you kisses.
Call animal control officer
Mario Irazoqui at (559) 618- 9071 or animal control volun- teer Kim at (559) 250-5270 or message the Sanger Animal Shelter Facebook page and leave your email address
to find out more about the adoption process which will involve home checks.
The cost for each adoption will vary.
Let Mario or Kim know if you're interested in provid- ing a temporary foster home for any of the shelter dogs.
Yay! Longtime shelter residents Mary and Jane, above, won't be looking out of a chain link cage anymore. They're leaving for their forever home today.

There's a place to cool off in Sanger when you need a place to escape from the heat.
"Thanks to a grant from PG&E the City of Sanger annex building at 1789 Jensen Avenue will be opened from noon to 6 p.m. as a cooling center every time the temperature reaches or tops 105 degrees," said parks and recreation
supervisor Joaquin Zamora.
You can visit the cooling center by enter-
ing through the annex building's west doors on Hoag Avenue.
"The cooling center needs volunteers and will accept donations of bottled water and oth- er items to help beat the heat," said Zamora.
