Pirates move to 6-0 with another blowout
Reedley blanks Fresno, Dinuba pounds Selma while Sanger wins at Madera

The Reedley High football team remained unbeaten with another methodical beatdown last week, as they con- tinue marching toward another possible show- down against Sunnyside High to determine North Yosemite League su- premacy.
Senior Ryan Warken- tin compiled 259 yards (177 rushing) and scored three more touchdowns, quarterback Jacob Ro- cha threw for two scores and the defense held vis- iting Fresno High to 81 total yards at the Pirates (6-0, 2-0 NYL) posted a 38-0 shutout victory at Sal Gonzalez Field on Oct. 8.

the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season (he has 1,013 yards) with his 12-carry output, which included scoring runs of 17 and 55 yards. He also had four catches for 82 yards, and his 17-yard scoring run marked the third time this season he has ended a quarter or half with a touchdown.
Rocha also threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Roman Marquez, while a 32-yard field goal from Fernando Gar- cia and 4-yard TD run by Isaac Vasquez rounded out the scoring. The Pi- rates' defense held the Fresno ground game to just 28 yards, with two sacks near the end of
the first half turning away the only scoring threat for the Warriors (2-3, 1-1).
Reedley has a piv- otal Thursday game this week, taking on Roos- evelt High (4-3, 1-1) in a 7 p.m. start at Sunnyside High in Fresno.

At Dinuba, the Em-
perors (4-3, 1-1 Cen- tral Sequoia League) snapped a two-game losing streak with a ven- geance by erupting for 42 points in the opening quarter against the visit- ing Bears.
Dinuba racked up 509 total yards, 301 on the ground led by senior Sebastian Olivera (142

Big showings for SHS volleyball, water polo and X-C

Itwasabigweekof achievement for Sanger High in three sports last week – cross country, water polo and volleyball.
The Apaches girls cross country team placed 11th in the championship girls race at the Oct. 9 Clovis Invitational; the first time the girls have been invited to compete in the premier race considered one of the fastest in the state.
The team os Sienna Bian- chi (18 minutes, 28 seconds), Leah Mendibles (18:48), Nereyda Alvarez (18:59), Ma- leia Alvarez (20:24) and Mar- cella Cueller (21:30) all ran lifetime bests and combined for a school record average time of 19:15. That made this group the fastest Sanger girls team of all time. Sanger's girls are ranked number one

The Sanger High varsity girls cross country team set a new school record with an average time of 19 minutes, 15 seconds on their way to an 11th place finish in the championship (open) girls division at the 42nd annual Clovis Invitational meet in Fresno on Oct. 9.
Sanger High's Jesse Ellis gained control in the fourth period of County Metro Athletic Confer- ence water polo showdown with Bullard on Oct. 7. Ellis scored seven goals as the 23-1 Apaches downed the Knights, 18-14.

The Apache boys water po- lo team continued their domi- nation this season, improving
to 23-1 on the season and 6-0 in County Metro Athletic Con- ference play. Sanger blasted Madera South 19-4 on Oct. 5, then outlasted second place Bullard High 18-14 at Sanger High Aquatics Complex on Oct. 7.
Junior Jesse Ellis led the scoring with seven goals, senior Tyler Coles had four
goals and senior Curt Delap three goals while sophomore Jaxon Hoover and junior cap- tain Nathaniel Bonomi each added two goals. Junior goalie Mark Cockrum collected six saves.
Sanger finishes the regu- lar season with three of four league games on the road.
