Conditional Use Permit Application No. 2022-3 & Environmental Assessment No. 2022-3
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Sections 65090 and 65091 (Planning and Zoning Law) of the Government Code; and, pursuant to the procedures of Title 10 of the Reedley Municipal Code, the Reedley Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing to consider the following:
1. Environmental Assessment No. 2022-3: pertains to the determination that Conditional Use Permit No. 2021-3 is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), pursuant to Section 15332 (Class 32/In ll Development Projects) of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines.
2. Conditional Use Permit Application No. 2022-3: pertains to the installation of a new telecommunication tower at CF Mueller Park to meet the radio coverage needs and tower space requirements of Reedley Police, Fire and Public Works operations. The tower would be located at the northeast corner of CF Mueller Park and would encroach mainly onto an abandoned well site within the park. The work includes the build and installation of a 120-foot slim lattice tower, necessary antennas, feedlines and communications equipment for existing police, re and pubic work uses, with installed industry approved anti fall/safety climb devices. The highest antennae would reach 140 feet above the ground.

New legislation (AB 481) de ned certain police equipment as “military equipment.” Law enforcement agencies must obtain policy approval from their governing body to continue to use such equipment. It is important to note that the term “military equipment” does not necessarily indicate equipment that the military has used. Pursuant to AB 481, items deemed to be “military equipment” include, but are not limited to, unmanned aerial (drones) or ground vehicles (robots), armored vehicles, command and control vehicles, pepper balls, less lethal shotguns, less lethal 40mm projectile launchers, long-range acoustic devices, and ashbangs. To that end, the items listed in the policies also provide our of cers with necessary tools that facilitate compliance with our stringent use of force policy.
The City Council meeting will be held via video conference and is open to the public. The weblink and telephone number listed below will provide access to the City Council meeting.
