A Saturday Farmers Market in downtown Sanger? That’s the concept fielded by Tammy Wolfe, Sanger Chamber president and chief executive. Wolfe made the proposal public at the Sanger Community Task Force on Tuesday. And she said, despite at least one naysayer, she’s heard mostly positive responses to the idea. Wolfe has said her plan is to get as many people into Sanger buying locally as possible, that it will pay off in big dividends for the Christmas Tree city. Lee Delap, a long- time organizer and Sanger Rotary member, said at the same meeting that the National Park Service up Highway 180 has recorded 2 million visitors for the first time. Tapping into just a fraction of that traffic would be a significant benefit to the city, he said. Wolfe encouraged people to weigh in on the farmers market idea. It would be year-round. Give the chamber a call at 559-875- 4575.
