Sanger celebrated another successful year at the 2018 Central California Regional Science Fair held last week at the county fair grounds.
Sanger had 49 students at the award ceremony and 23 students qualify to go on to the California State Science Fair.
Four Sanger students were top award winers.
• 8th Grade Sweepstakes winner Ryann Flach from WAMS. Her project was, "Investigating the effective- ness of hydrophobic soil in increasing water capacity in reservoirs."
• 8th Grade Sweepstakes runner-up Ashley Schletewitz from Quail Lake Environ- mental Charter School. Her project was, "Determining the effects of Equisetum hyemale on the growth rate of Penicillin italicum."
• 7th Grade Sweepstakes runner-up Colin Manfredo from Quail Lake Environ- mental Charter School with a project entitled, "Can an inline hydroelectric turbine save homeowners money on
their electric bill?"
• 6th Grade Sweepstakes
runner-up Graham Luckin from Quail Lake Environ- mental Charter School with "The effect of different golf ball dimple patterns on travel time in a fluid."

AMVETS Post 98 and VFW Post 7168 are cospon- soring a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 21 at the AMVETS Hall, 812 K Street in Sanger.
Blood donation takes less than one hour to complete. Donors must be in good general health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds
and be at least 17 years old (16 years old with written parental consent). Senior citizens are encouraged to donate, as there is no upper age limit. Donors should eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within 4 hours prior to their donation. Donors can give blood every eight weeks. Photo ID and Social Security number are required at do- nor registration.

Kevin Narang from Sanger Academy Charter School was the winner of the Fresno County Spelling Bee elementary school competition. Kevin will go on to state competition. The winning word was "protege."The annual Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools’ Fresno County Scripps Spelling Bee competition, in partnership with The Fresno Bee, was held on March 14 at Fresno State. Sponsors of the 2018 Scripps Spelling Bee are the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, The Fresno Bee, Founda- tion @ FCOE, Fresno State, Chevron, Educational Employees Credit Union and Educational Resource Consultants.
Library closed for maintenance
Blood Center is the sole provider of blood and blood products for 31 hospitals
in Fresno, Tulare, Madera, Kings and Mariposa counties. It must collect between 5,000 and 6,000 pints of blood a month to meet the needs of our Valley community.

The Sanger library is closed for maintenance. The renovation will include up- grades to the doors, flooring and restrooms.
While it's closed, the Fres- no County Public Library will continue service to Sanger with visits by the Bookmobile or Pop-up Library collection on Fridays and intermittent visits of the Digibus (mobile computer lab) as well. All current holds will be available at the Sunnyside Regional Library for pickup. All fines and fees for the Sanger Branch Library will be waived during the closure.

NOTICE OF HEARING REGARDING PROPOSED ADOPTION OF A DEVELOPER FEE STUDY AND THE INCREASE OF THE STATUTORY SCHOOL FEE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Governing Board of the Fowler Uni ed School District will hold a hearing and consider input from the public on the proposed adoption of a Developer Fee Justi cation Study for the District and an increase in the statutory school facility fee (“Level I Fee”) on new residential and commercial/industrial develop- ments as approved by the State Allocation Board on Janu- ary 24, 2018. The adoption of the Study and the increase of the Level I Fee are necessary to fund the construction of needed school facilities to accommodate students due to development.
