SANGER HERALD 8A THURSDAY, August 9, 2018
Weather for
APACHE COUNTRY
Scrimmage this Friday, Aug. 10, against Redwood in Visalia's Mineral King Bowl
at 7:30 p.m.
First game is next Friday, Aug. 17, against
Reedley in Tom Flores Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
It cooled off just a little during the St. Mary's Sum- mer Festival, then it started to heat up again.
After a few more days of triple digit days we'll experi- ence another cooldown.
It will likely be in the mid 90s on Friday, Aug. 17, and in the high 80s during most of the Apaches' first game of the season against the Reed-
ley Pirates in Tom Flores Stadium.
It looks like the wind is go- ing to shift over the next few days and maybe blow some of the smoke and soot out of the Sanger. Hopefully by the time it shifts again those for- est fires will be over.

The Pets of the Week are:
• Rex, a little terrier
mix who is probably about
3 years old. He's a bit shy when he first meets you. But he warms up quickly.
• Bruce is a high energy shepherd mix who is prob- ably not even a year old. He gets along well with every- one and loves to run and play.
• Isabella is a happy pit- bull lady who also gets along with everyone and just wants to cuddle.
Princess, Tank and Mary and Jane are also still at the shelter, waiting and hoping
for their forever homes.
Call animal control officer
Mario Irazoqui at (559) 618- 9071 or animal control volun- teer Kim at (559) 250-5270 or message the Sanger Animal Shelter Facebook page and leave your email address
to find out more about the adoption process which will involve home checks.
The cost for each adoption will vary.
Let Mario or Kim know if you're interested in provid- ing a temporary foster home for any of the shelter dogs.

There's a place to cool off in Sanger when you need a place to escape from the heat.
"Thanks to a grant from PG&E the City of Sanger annex building at 1789 Jensen Avenue will be opened from noon to 6 p.m. as a cooling center every time the temperature reaches or tops 105 degrees," said parks and recreation supervisor Joaquin Zamora.
You can visit the cooling center by enter- ing through the annex building's west doors on Hoag Avenue.
"The cooling center needs volunteers and will accept donations of bottled water and oth- er items to help beat the heat," said Zamora.
If you're interested in volunteering or donat- ing, call 876-6300 option 2.
