The Pirates then will have another road test on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Dinuba High. The Em- perors carried a perfect 12-0 record into a Dec. 23 game against Mission Oak High.

Eight Emperors make All-League first team
Reedley High’s Augie Villarreal sliced to the basket between Kingsburg High defenders Blake Spomer (3) and Matthew Ruegge (15) during the first half on Dec. 20. Villarreal scored a game-high 26 points, but the Pirates fell to the Vikings by an 85-62 score.
Dinuba's Garcia named CSL Offensive Player of the Year

Dinuba High had a total of eight players that were recog- nized as some of the best in the Central Sequoia League.
Ethan Espinoza (lineback- er) along with Johnny Garcia (defensive lineman) and Brian Ortuno-Campbell (defensive back) were CSL defensive first team selections. Espinoza recorded 39 tackles and 28 as- sisted tackles while Garcia had 31 tackles and assisted on 34 other tackles. He also record- ed three sacks. Campbell had a solid year compiling 24 tackles,

assisting on seven others to go along with a sack and an inter- ception. On the CSL offensive first team were lineman Isaiah Torre and wide receiver Ga- briel Moreno. Moreno had 32 receptions for 402 yards and four touchdowns.
Cesar Lopez (place kicker) and Jorge Duran (punter) were also on the CSL first team. Lo- pez converted 39 of 44 PAT’s and 6 of 8 field goals while Du- ran averaged 32 yards a punt.
Second team/honorable mentions were Ronnie Rub- alcaba, Josh Magaña and Em- manuel Del Rio.

Sanger closed out the
tournament with a 51-41 victory over Kalaheo High on Dec. 21. Jon and Luke Dillon led the way for the Apaches scoring 29 points between them. J. Dillon finished with 14 points on 7 of 8 shooting from the field while L. Dillon scored 15 points while hauling in seven rebounds and dishing out three assists.
The Apaches are now 5-4 on the season and re- turn to the court today when they play East Bakersfield in the Clo- vis Elks Tournament at 3 p.m. The tournament will last until Dec. 30.

Orosi High junior Aidan Rodriguez was named the West Sequoia League’s Special Teams Player of the Year.
Rodriguez accumu- lated over 450 yards in kickoff and punt returns and was 47 of 55 in PAT’s. He earned first team recognition as a defen- sive back with 43 tackles and led the team with six interceptions. Rodriguez made the second team as a wide receiver.
Running back Domi- nic Martinez was on the first team after an im- pressive campaign where he led the Valley in rush- ing with over 2,200 yards
and scored 31 touch- downs.
Paving the way up front for Martinez and garnering first team rec- ognition was offensive lineman Edgar Domin- guez and Victor Rosales was on the 2nd team.
Linebacker Juan Flores and defensive line- man Freddi Arciga were on the 1st team as well. Flores had 40 tackles and assisted on 19 others. Ar- ciga had 46 tackles and assisted on 27 while lead- ing the team in tackles for losses with nine.
Arciga was a 2nd team selection on offense as a fullback. Defensive back Andrew Arechiga was a 2nd team member.

player Emily Gonzalez
is named Athlete of the Week. Gonzalez, a senior mid elder, scored the game- winning goal in a 1-0 win over rival Dinuba. Orosi has won three of their last four matches and improved to 8-1-6 overall.
Right: Orosi High's Dominic Martinez, who led the Valley this year in rushing, was among five Cardinals to make the All-WSL first team. Among those joining him were Aidan Rodriguez, below, who was also named WSL Spe- cial Teams Player of the Year.
