Gabriela Garcia scored the game- winner, wrapping up a thrilling match. The win also put Fowler (17-3, 7-0) a game ahead of Orosi in the WSL standings.
“The game had a playoff atmosphere,” stated Fowler coach Richard Gonzales. “It was almost like when we played them for the Division 5 Valley championship a couple of years ago. We’re looking forward to playing them again. I have no doubt that it’s going to be even more exciting when we go over there.”
Orosi got off to a slow start as the Redcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Fernanda Espino served a ball across the face of the goal to Joeline Nino who knocked it in for a goal. Symphony Feaver increased the lead to 2-0 on a penalty kick.

Balanced attack
drives Emperors to a win at home
Dinuba plays host to league-leading Immanuel tonight
Dinuba went on a 12-2 run on a basket by Calderon, and Magaña followed up with 3-pointer and a layup. Hanford West’s Chino Botello scored a basket only to be answered by a 3-pointer from Magaña and a floater in the paint from Rodriguez. Dinuba closed out the quarter with another trey from Magaña and a pair of free throws from Brian Ortuno-Campbell for a 52-39 lead.
After a basket by Hanford West’s Darius Gaston to start the 4th quarter, the lead increased to 18 when Jacob Rodriguez made a 3-pointer followed by another basket from Calderon and a pair of free throws from L. Rodriguez
Coach Jeff Schofield said both teams played hard and at times got physical.
“Hanford West is a lot like our kids, tough kids and they play pretty hard,” Schofield said. “It was a little physical. It makes for a fun game.”
This was the third time the two teams have played, the last two captured by

Dinuba settles for a split
Sentinel staff report
The Dinuba High girls basketball team fell behind early in their game against Hanford West.
The Emperors never panicked as they chipped away at a 21-14 halftime deficit with a second half surge lifting DHS to a 52-43 Central Sequoia League win over the host Huskies Friday evening.
Dinuba had trailed 8-0 early in the
first quarter and entered the second quarter down 16-4. After outscoring Hanford West 10-5 the momentum carried over into the third quarter as the offense came to life, according to coach Benny Prado.
The Emperors scored 22 points while holding the Huskies to single digits with eight points.
Kailey Lopez, Krysta Casas and Kaylee Villasenor each scored eight points apiece while Yazmine Villareal-

Dinuba could not score a point in the last few minutes of the game, according to Prado.
The Emperors were set to face Selma late Tuesday night. Results of the game were unavailable at press time.

Orosi suffered its first loss of the season last Wednesday, and with a few days in between games, the Cardinals knew how important it was to get back on the winning track.
In their match against Parlier on Tuesday night, Orosi did just that as the Cardinals posted a 3-0 win over the Panthers in a West Sequoia League match.
“The girls came out and played fine,” said coach Sarah Vega. “We’re trying a new formation, but it’s hard playing the same team twice.”
Amber Apodaca, Mikala Montemayor and Melanie Davila each scored a goal for Orosi who improved to 10-1-3 and 5-1 in league.
Last Wednesday at Fowler, the Cardinals erased a 2-0 halftime lead forcing overtime before the Redcats’
Dinuba’s Bryan Lucatero fends off Hanford West defender Conner Perez in the first half of Friday’s Central Sequoia League match. Lucatero scored the only goal in the match as Dinuba remained perfect in league play with a 6-0 record.

But when the referee blew his whistle
to signal the end of the match, the mood was somber for players and the coaching staff.
Junior defender Cesar Lopez, who went down with a knee injury in the second half of the match, could miss a few matches according to coach Ramiro Rodriguez.
Rodriguez is hopeful Lopez can rejoin the team soon.
Another player, junior Santiago Rodriguez, hurt his ankle late in the match as well. Atlhough, he was able to practice on Monday, according to coach Rodriguez.
“Our team is strong,” Rodriguez said.
“Right now we’re focusing on league. We’re 6-0, but we have four strong games ahead. Hopefully we don’t lose any more kids.”
Ten minutes into the first half, Dinuba’s Bryan Lucatero scored the eventual lone goal on a mishandled blocked shot by Hanford West goalie Enrique Canchola.
The rest of the match proved to be frustrating as the Emperors missed on breakaway opportunities, a direct kick and a few counters.
“We couldn’t get the knockout punch,” Rodriguez said. “We had so many chances. We struggled right here tonight and we did some stuff we
