The Reedley High baseball squad actually got a one-week head start, beginning its fi- nal season in the North Yosemite League back on March 15. But the Pi- rates (8-2) suffered their second home loss of the campaign, dropping a 9-1 decision to Fresno High to snap a four-game win streak.

After losing two out of three games to College of the Sequoias last week, the Reedley College Tiger base- ball team finds itself in fourth place in the Central Valley Conference.
The Tigers went into last week’s action ranked 13th in the state by the California Community College Sports Information Directors Asso- ciation and sixth in Northern California.
The two losses dropped Reedley to 6-5 in the CVC and
15-7 overall, going into a cru- cial three-game series with second place Merced College. The series began in Reedley on March 22 before heading to Merced on Thursday, March 24, and going back to Reedley on Saturday, March 26, for a 1 p.m. contest.
The series with COS began on March 15 in Visalia, as the Tigers recorded a dramatic 7-6 victory. Orin Hirschkorn’s two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning off J.T. Fries- en (Immanuel) put the Tigers ahead to stay. Elijah Acosta came in to record the save.
Hirschkorn recorded four
hits on the day while Koby Kropf finished with three.
But Friesen recovered, re- cording the win in the Giants’ 8-6 win in Reedley on March 17andasaveina5-3winon March 19.
Sequoias scored twice with two out in the ninth off Acosta on a two-run triple by Jackson Brooks to break a six-all tie on March 17.
Reedley came back from a 2-0 first inning deficit, tying the game on a two-run third inning homer by Kropf after
Nilen Peoples led off the bot- tom of the first inning with a solo blast. Later, Peoples scored the tying run in the bot- tom of the eighth inning on a passed ball.
In the March 19 game, Reedley came back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game on Ra- mon Rosales run-scoring dou- ble before COS went ahead in the bottom of the inning on a bases loaded walk and a sac- rifice fly.
SOFTBALL Reedley moves into second place tie in CVC

Reedley took a conference record of 2-2 and an overall record of 8-13 into a 5 p.m. Thursday, March 24, contest at Merced College. The Tigers travel to first place Fresno City (6-0) on Tuesday, March 29 for 1 p.m. doubleheader.
