The Dinuba Sentinel News Cardinals are Internnect Champions

Last week the Internnect team from Orosi High School competed against six other high schools to walk away as Internect Champions.
Internnect is an architectural internship competition where high school students work with clients to design projects focused on learning spaces while being mentored by professionals and post-secondary students.
This year, the team from Orosi High School was mentored by Fresno State Engineering student Fabian Valdez. The team also received support from other professionals from the local industry.
The program is under the direction of Lisa Castillo, Director of College and Career Readiness, and Annaly Alvarado, Work Based Learning Facility.
The team earned the top prize of $2,500, which will be used for scholarships.

Dinuba Police Department arrests in the last week.
• Luis Oscar Sanchez, 31, of a transient of Dinuba was booked on Apr. 29 on suspicion of making threats with the intent to terrorize, a felony, and battery, a misdemeanor.
According to police, he committed battery on a female victim and then made threats to kill her. He was later located in the 1300 block of East Olive Way, where he was taken into custody and identified by the victim out of a photo line-up.
He was arrested and later booked into the Tulare County Pretrial Facility.
• Maria Viviana Hernandez, 35, of Dinuba was booked on Apr. 30 on suspicion of inflicting corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, a felony.
Police say she was contacted in the 1200 block of East Sierra Way in regards to a call of a domestic violence disturbance.
She was arrested, booked and later transported to the Tulare County Pretrial Facility.
• Marlon Alexis Zuniga, 28, of Dinuba was booked on Apr. 30 on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and driving without a license, both misdemeanors.
Officers say he was observed having difficulty parking in front of the Dinuba Police Department and later admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day. He was taken into custody in the 600 block of South Alta Avenue, booked and later transported to the Tulare County Pretrial Facility for housing.
• Phillip Jose Gutierrez, 33, a transient of Dinuba was booked on Apr. 30 on suspicion of shoplifting, a misdemeanor.
Police say he was contacted in the 100 block of West Merced Street after being positively identified in a photo line-up as a suspect in a shoplifting case. He was also said to be in possession of the stolen property.
He was arrested, booked and later released with a citation to appear in court.
• Marlon Alexis Zuniga, 28, of Dinuba was booked on Apr. 30 on suspicion of making threats with the intent to terrorize, a felony, and vandalism, a misdemeanor.
According to police, Zuniga showed up to his mother's apartment and threatened to kill his step-father, who was in a
carport area, causing him to be in fear for his life. Zuniga then reportedly left on foot and was later contacted by police in the 300 block of West El Monte Way, where he was placed under arrest.
During interrogation, police say he also admitted to damaging the window to his step-father's vehicle and also damaging the window to his girlfriend's mother's vehicle.
He was booked and later transported to the Tulare County Pretrial Facility.
• Oran David Gaylord, 30, of Dinuba was booked on May 1 on suspicion of obstucting a police officer, a misdemeanor.
Police say officers responded to the 1600 block of East El Monte Way for a call of a suspicious person and located him at the scene. Officers say they recognized Gaylord to be on county probation and when they attempted to contact him they say he ran from them even after being told to stop.
He was taken into custody in the 1400 block of East El Monte Way, where he was arrested, booked and later released with a promise to appear in court.
• Maggie Lopez Vega, 44, a transient of Dinuba was booked on May 1 on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
Officers say she was contacted in the 200 block of North Alta Avenue in regards to a suspicious person. Police say she displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
She was arrested at the scene, booked and later transported to the Tulare County Pretrial Facility.
• Jeronimo Jaime Saenz, Jr., 20, a transient of Dinuba was booked on May 1 on suspicion of being in contempt of a court issued restraining order, a misdemeanor.
According to police, officers were called out to the 400 block of South M Street after a woman called saying her son was causing a disturbance at the residence. A warrants check revealed there was a criminal protective order on file with the reporting party being protected.
He was arrested at the scene, booked and later released on his promise to appear in court.
• Donavan Lee Davis, 46, a transient of Dinuba was booked on May 2 on suspicion of arson, a felony, and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.
Police say officers were dispatched to the 600 block of West El Monte Way for a call of an unwanted person. When officers arrived they found that he had lit a pile of cloths on fire near a building and was under the influence of alcohol.
He was arrested and transported directly to the Tulare County Pretrial Facility due to his level of intoxication.
• Teresa Mendoza, 30, of Dinuba was booked on May 3 on suspicion of battery on a spouse or date, vandalism and attempting to prevent a witness or victim, all misdemeanors.
According to police, officers responded to the 1000 block of Rosemary Avenue for a report of domestic violence. The victim, police say, advised them that she slapped him across the face with an open hand and then took his
cell phone away while he was attempting to call police for help. The victim stated that Mendoza also damaged a battery back belonging to him.
She was arrested at the scene, booked and later transported to the Tulare County Pretrial Facility.
• Monica Rodriguez, 37, of Orange Cove was booked on May 3 on suspicion of petty theft, a misdemeanor.
Officers say she was contacted by Walmart security due to a theft that occurred there. She was taken into custody in the 700 block of West El Monte Way and was booked and later released with a citation to appear in court.
• Anthony Roy Sanchez, 39, of Reedley was booked on May 4 on suspicion of being in possession of unlawful paraphernalia, misdemeanor.
Police say he was contacted in the 1400 block of West Sierra Way for a minor traffic violation. During the contact, police say he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arrested, booked and later released with a citation to appear in court.
• Gustavo Guiza Guizar, 37, of Dinuba was booked on May 5 on suspicion of inflicting corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, a felony.
According to police, officers were called out to the 1200 block of Newton Drive for a call of an intoxicated male subject causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a young male who stated Guizar had pushed
