Dinuba, Sanger drop close battles at home
 MVT Staff Report
The Reedley High Pi- rates blew open a tight game in the second half, erupting for 32 points on their way to a season- opening 46-6 rout of the Hoover Patriots at Sal Gonzalez Field on March
26. Junior running back Ryan Warkentin rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns, all in the second half, as the Pi- rates racked up 470 total yards including 303 rushing. Warkentin scored on runs of 1, 7, 9 and 83 yards, averaging more than nine yards in his 18 carries.
Senior receiver Mike Rios had both Pirates scores in the first half; a 15-yard reception from Jacob Rocha in the first quarter and a 9-yard catch from Nick Quezada in the second. He also had a 2-point conversion run; rushing 10 times for 66 yards and collecting five receptions for 70 yards.
Rocha also had a touchdown pass to Jona- than Dircio in the final period, throwing for 87 yards on four comple- tions while Quezada had seven completions for 80 yards. The Pirates' defense limited Hoover to 150 total yards, just 12 on the ground.

Tulare Western 26, Dinuba 20
At Claud Hebert Field, the Emperors' late rally came up just short against the Mustangs and senior wide receiver Rolando Holmes.
Dinuba trailed 20- 7 entering the final quarter, but crept close when running back Jo- siah Reyes rolled left on a halfback option and completed a 9-yard TD pass to Bryan Ruiz. But Holmes – who burned the Emps for 156 total yards (150 rushing) — broke around right end and outraced defenders for his second 66-yard touchdown of the night.
Dinuba took a last- minute drive to pay dirt, converting on quarter- back's Casimiro Bar- ragan's 7-yard pass to Michael Olvera (eight catches for 109 yards). The Emperors' other score was a 1-yard run in the opening quarter by Josiah Reyes, who finished with 150 yards rushing.
