prudent decision for the safety and well-being of our children, staff and community.”
Jones further ex- plained that, though students will not be re- turning to campus this school year, learning will continue in the district through distance learn- ing, noting that staff is working around the clock to provide students with work and access via virtual classrooms.
Distance learning has been the go-to al- ternative for many school districts during the current statewide shelter-in-place. Jones acknowledged that the process can create some hardships due to parents who are still working, challenging content, ac- cess to computer and/ or internet service, and the stress some families may be enduring as a re- sult of the pandemic.
“I want to assure our families that no child will have negative con- sequences due to circum- stances that are beyond their control,” Jones said.
She asked parents to encourage their child to do what they can and to reach out to teachers when they have ques- tions and concerns.

MVT Staff Report
In a weekly up- date to Dinuba Uni- fied School District parents of students, Superintendent Joe Hernandez stated the schools will be closed until at least May 1.
“While the likeli- hood the schools will reopen is doubtful, we want to leave the door slightly open to that possibility,” Hernan- dez wrote. “We want you to know how much we miss our students during these unusual circumstances. We hope you are all prac- ticing social distanc- ing, washing hands, and staying safe.”
Packet distribution
will soon be distributed to students and, according to Jones, iPads for students in kindergarten through sixth grade will be dis- tributed beginning April 17. The district is also in the process of purchasing hotspots for WiFi access for families who need it.
Grading information following the guidelines of the California Depart- ment of Education is also expected to be released
the fact that KWRA was among a greatly-reduced total number of the usual Sierra surveyor agencies taking measurements be- cause of the coronavirus pandemic. Because of this, long-term efforts
will continue at local elementary school sites on April 15-17.
Grab and Go meal distribution will re- sume on Tuesday, April 14. However, starting on that day, meals will be avail- able for pick up only two days per week. Meals will be avail- able for pick up on April 14-15 and from then on will be every week on Monday and Wednesday.
Dr. Hernandez wrote while the schools are physically closed, we intend to continue to serve our students through dis- tance learning oppor- tunities and through personal connections.
after students return from Spring Break.
Grab-n-Go free lunches, though not be- ing provided during this week’s Spring Break, will resume Tuesday, April 14, and will contin- ue to be distributed from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Sequoia Elementary, Wilson Elementary, Del Rey Elementary, Wash- ington Academic and Sanger High School.

A revised measure- ment of the snowpack is expected in a matter of days, Haugen said.
CASES
Continued from page A1
(12). Parlier and Orange Cove were among 10 cities listed in the chart having four or fewer cases. That meant those communities could have anywhere from zero to four positive cases.
In Tulare County, a zoned map featuring six different regions showed the region with zip codes including Di- nuba and Cutler-Orosi had 18 total positive cases. It's unknown how many of these were within those two cities.
Reedley City Man- ager Nicole Zieba re- ceived confirmation of her city's positive COVID-19 cases from County Health Officer David Pomaville. In
an email to The Times, Zieba said the county notified her that they would issue numbers by city for any com- munity that had five or more positive tests. In Reedley's case, those numbers could include rural regions just out- side the city limits.
Around the same time on April 7, Sanger City Manager Tim Chapa released a state- ment confirming the seven cases in the city. Although individual names and addresses remain unidentified because of Health In- surance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) laws, public safety personnel will be contacted whenev- er EMS services are required at those ad-
dresses to provide nec- essary precautions.
Both the Fresno County Department of Public Health and Tulare County Depart- ments of Health web- sites contain a chart and map, respectively, that list cases by commu- nity. The Fresno County chart lists cases by com- munity, while the Tulare County map includes zip code regions.
To access the Fres- no County COVID-19 case update site, go to co.fresno.ca.us/depart- ments/public-health/ covid-19 and click on the "see chart" link. For Tulare County, go to tchhsa.org/eng/in- dex.cfm/public-health/ covid-19-updates-novel- coronavirus/ and look at the map.

Diego Moreno, vice principal at Ben Benavides Elementary School in Parlier, wore a homemade protective mask as he greeted the family of a Parlier High student in the high school parking lot on April 7. Parlier High officials, including Principal George Al- varado, passed out school-issued Chromebook computers to students for their online home studies during the spring vacation break April 7-14. As of April 7, schools in the Parlier Unified district were closed to students through Friday, May 1.
