AWARDS Continued from page A1
are our future. For years I have tried to bring to life the effort and the thrill of vic- tory, and also the agony of defeats of our Reedley High student athletes.”
Other highlights of the night included the Reedley Hall of Fame award given to the late Pam Melville.
Melville died in June 2018 at the age of 67, after a 12-year battle with cancer. She owned and operated David’s and Party Plus in downtown Reedley since 1980 and held various leadership roles in the Reedley Downtown Association for more than three decades.
Melville also served 19 years on the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission, more than 10 of those years chairing the commission, and also served on the Sierra
Kings Health Care District board.
“Pam was a very tough act to follow, I am honored that I would be chosen to speak on behalf of the family,” said Debbie Ting-
ley, a friend and co-worker.
Tingley was speaking for the Melville
family after, Dale Melville, Pam’s husband, was unable to attend the event.
“The family is so greatly appreciative of the chamber, Pam’s business, civic and community business have been dually rec- ognized over the years, like all of you, the family is so extremely proud of all her ac- complishments. However if Pam were here tonight, she’d be the first to say that some- one else is more deserving.”
