tor in determining how DWR manages California’s water resources. On average, the Si- erra snowpack supplies about 30 percent of California’s wa- ter needs as it melts in the spring and early summer to meet water demands in the
summer and fall.
DWR conducts up to five
snow surveys each winter – near the first of January, Feb- ruary, March, April and, if necessary, May — at Phillips Station in the Sierra Nevada just off Highway 50 near Sier- ra-at-Tahoe. The Phillips snow
course is one of hundreds that will be surveyed manually throughout the winter. Man- ual measurements augment the electronic readings from about 100 snow pillows in the Sierra Nevada that provide a current snapshot of the water content in the snowpack.

this should be his choice that we affirm.”
The motion to postpone the approval of appointing the president failed with a vote of 4-2. Voting ‘no’ were Ikeda, trustees Richard Caglia and Bobby Kahn and, surprisingly, Leal. Magdalena Gomez, local trustee, and Annalisa Perea, board secretary, voted ‘yes.’
“It’s my pleasure to intro- duce our two new approved campus presidents,” said Par- nell. “From Madera, Angel Reyna, and Reedley College, Dr. Jerry Buckley.”
Buckley is from San Diego County and worked as an as- sistant superintendent as well
as vice president of academic affairs at Santa Clarita Com- munity College since 2013.He also served as vice president of instruction at the San Diego Community College District as well as Grossmont Cuyamaca Community College District.
“This has been a dream for me,” Buckley said in a state- ment from the college. “Reed- ley College has such an amaz- ing history, it has such amazing programs.
“When I look back at my 29 years in higher education, this opportunity to work with things like the ag program, the forestry program, to be able to work with the aviation pro- gram, all these different areas and the traditional associate degrees for transfer, this is a very special campus.”
