On top of Sanger Unified schools being closed until April 13, and possi- bly longer, upcoming events in the city of Sanger have also either been can- celed or postponed due to the current health crisis regarding the Covid-19 Coronavirus.
One of the biggest events to be ef- fected was the Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards banquet that was sched- uled for the end of this month.
“Due to the escalating and uneasy nature of the Coronavirus outbreak, along with a press release from our governor, the Sanger Chamber has made the difficult decision to post- pone our 96th Annual Awards Ban- quet, scheduled for March 27,” said CEO for the Sanger District Chamber of Commerce, Tammy Wolfe.
The event has tentatively been rescheduled for Friday, May 15, but may be pushed further back as more information on the current health cri-

"Now I recognize right now we are unaware of any cases in the city of Reedley for coronavirus," she said. "We have limited cases in Fresno County as of right now compared to the rest of the state. But the declaration can be called with the threatened existence of a condition, not simply that we are in the midst of the disaster."
Zieba said the main reason a prompt emer- gency declaration was beneficial is because cer- tain provisions of the code concerning timelines for making a decision are waived. But more im- portant, any costs associ-

County CDC reports on a weekly ba- sis,” said Wolfe. “Based on informa- tion received, if we need to reassess the date scheduled.”
The event, according to Karen Pearson of the Sanger Chamber, the event historically draws as many as 300 people. At the time of the cham- ber’s announcement on March 12, Cali- fornia Gov. Gavin Newsom had put a ban on gatherings of more than 250 people.
By the beginning of this week, that number had gone down to 50 and then 10 on March 16.
A St. Patrick’s Day chamber mixer that was scheduled for March 17 was also cancelled as a precaution, prior to the national recommendation that all bars be closed to help curtail the spread of the virus.
The Sanger Chamber also noted that all pre-purchased tickets, along with sponsorships, will be honored at the future date of the awards banquet.

ated with preparing for or dealing with the corona- virus may be reimbursed by the state and federal government. Zieba then used an example.
"We have had to cancel swim events at the com- munity center. Those are costs that we might be
able to get reimbursed by the state and federal government because it was caused by the coro- navirus," she said. "So as those costs add up more and more, we may have an opportunity to have
