AbrAhAm G. Fr A nco
February 4, 1940 ~ January 6, 2021
Our father, ABRAHAM G. FRANCO, left this earth the morning of January 6, 2021. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and godfather to many. He was married to our mother, Lupe, for 61 years. He leaves behind his children: Adrienne, Joey, and Laura; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Sisters Nancy, Christina, Lydia, MaryEllen, and Susie. Many special nephews and nieces. Waiting in heaven with open arms were his parents Maximo and Merced Franco, along with brothers, Tom, Inez, Eddie, and Gilbert, and sisters Delfie and Jesse.
Dad was born and raised here in Sanger. He graduated grom Sanger High in 1958. Everyone knew him by ABIE or ABE. He worked with our uncle Inez at the Chipmunk Ranch for many years. After the ranch was sold, he became a truck driver until his retirement.
I’m sure he wasn’t ready to truly leave us knowing the sadness we’d go through, but his body was tired and could no longer fight. He wasn’t going to make that 100+ year mark like his father.
He took much pride in his grandchildren (Rene, Robert, AJ, Desiree, Aaron, Elisa, Olivia, Eddie, Lilianna, and Eric) and great-grandchildren (Victoria, Viviana, Aubrey, Ri-Ri, Catalina, Zeigen, Mason, Miles, Cameron, and Amelia). Each have special memories of their times with their Papa. Dad was a Raider and Dodger fan throughout his life – win or lose. More importantly, he was a Sanger Apache fan (and that was actually his CB handle as a truck driver). He followed his grandkids through all the sports they played – football (2 Valley championships), softball, baseball, volleyball. He’d even attend their practices.
One of his favorite past times was spending time with the family all together – watching the kids run around. He loved when his nephews would make the special trip to Sanger to visit and chat with him for a while. He was the peacemaker in the family; hated when anyone didn’t get along. He didn’t regularly attend church but said his prayers nightly and believed in God.
He’s up in heaven now keeping an eye on us, back with his brothers who I’m sure were waiting for him along with his many compadres.
