Senior Marcus Hein- richs scored a team-high 19 points for the Pirates in the win over McFar- land, then tallied 19 of his 26 points in the sec- ond half (11 in the third quarter) as RHS' late rally came up just short. Aaron Todd added 16 and 19 points, respectively, in each game. Both had the rare privilege of par- ticipating in playoffs for their school after having graduated.
Immanuel High, de- spite not playing a regu- lar season, continued to have a team practice and entered the Division II playoffs as a No. 11 seed for a June 2 first round matchup at No. 6 Roos- evelt. Despite lacking of game conditioning and a slow start against the North Yosemite League champions, the Eagles twice rallied to cut the deficit to single digits
before dropping a 65-51 decision in Fresno.
Ryan Chavez led IHS with 15 points while Shawn Rodgers and Jo- nah Tolpezninkas each scored 14 points. Senior graduates Rodgers, Tol- pezninkas, Amren Pure- wal and Landon Yamada all dressed and played in the game. All were mem- bers of the 2019 Eagles squad that won a second straight section title and reached the state finals in Division IV.
Orange Cove's boys reached the Division V semifinals (played at No. 2 Sierra on June 9) while Sanger's girls lost 67-61 in a home Division III- contest against Hoover on June 1.

Meanwhile, Reedley High's girls captured the North Yosemite League team title by an overwhelming margin, compiling 221 points to 86 points for runner-up Hoover. Five girls post- ed first place finishes, led by a double victory from sophomore Lind- say Lunsford (long jump, triple jump).
Junior Paola Rangel (1600 meters) and soph- omore Araceli Villareal (3200) won the distance races while freshman
Raquel Cortez led a top-threes sweep in the high jump (Lindsay and Ariana Lunsford were second and third).
The Pirate boys placed third behind McLane and Roosevelt, getting individual vic- tories from sophomore Kahlil Yalong (400) and freshman Yeshua Ra- mos (1600) in personal record times.
In addition to his win in the 1600, Ra- mos posted a PR time to take second place in the 800. Senior Adrian Jimenez finished sec- ond in the 110 hurdles and pole vault while Yalong added a second place finish in the 200.
Sanger, Reedley and Dinuba athletes all com- peted at the East Area qualifying meet June 9 at Exeter High School. All qualifiers advanced to the Central Section Championships at Bu- chanan Stadium in Clo- vis on Saturday, June 19.
The Apaches (20-2-1, 9-1 CMAC) were trying to add the Southern Califor- nia regional title to their NorCal regional cham- pionship in 2020. Both Sanger and Hart (12-4-1) scored twice in the open- ing half; the Apaches get- ting goals from top scor- er Isaiah Villalobos and Ezequial Chavez.
But the defenses took over the remaining 40
minutes of regulation and in four total over- time sessions, resulting in a shootout series of penalty shot kicks.
Hart converted on all four of its attempts, then got a clutch save from its goalkeeper to cement the upset. That same day, top-seeded Aliso Niguel was stunned by eventual regional champion St. Au- gustine from San Diego.
