TheTribeandtheNationwillbeway, way out of town this Friday - about 130 miles out of town.
Sanger's master statistician Ron Black- wood let us know that when the Sanger Apaches play the Paso Robles Bearcats on Friday, it will be: 1. the first meeting of the teams; and, 2. the No. 23 versus the No. 25 all time winningest high school teams in Califor- nia.
Going into the season, according to Ron, No. 23 Paso Robles had won 561 games and No. 25 Sanger had won 546.
Since the beginning of the season the Bearcats have lost to Buchanan 56-17, El Dia- mante 17-10 and Central 62-0 and defeated Frontier of Bakersfield 17-14 and Pioneer ValleyofSantaMaria21-17. So,theyplaya tough schedule.
Sanger has defeated Reedley 45-0, Han-
ford 48-28 and Lemoore 49-41 and lost to Clovis East and bad officiating 14-8.
TheApacheswillcomehomethefollow- ing Friday, Sept. 28 for a homecoming game against Madera.
The Coyotes are 4-1 so far this season with wins over Washington Union, Mission Oak
of Tulare, Kerman and Selma and a loss to Merced.
Sanger's home town hero Tom Flores will be doing double duty at the homecoming game. He'll take care of the coin toss to start the game and he'll be the homecoming parade grand marshal.
You'd better get to the game early because it's going to be a sellout.
By the way, according to Ron, Sanger's freshman team is 5-0 and the jayvees are 4-0.

Cinnamon is a 1 year old female basset hound/pitbull mix with a great personal- ity. She's good with other dogs and kids and loves to be hugged.
New to the shelter, not even a name yet, lower right photo, a2yearoldblack and white female, probably an American bulldog/pitbull mix. She is super friendly!!
You'll have two opportuni- ties to meet them this Sat- urday - from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Tractor Supply in Clovis and thenfrom5-9p.m.atthe Street Faire and Farmers' Market in downtown Sanger.
Still at the shelter, waiting to be your new best friend are:
• Rosie, who is about a year old, gets along with ev- eryone, including other dogs and cats and loves to run and play; and,
• Knight, an energetic shepherd/malamute mix who is probably not quite a year old.
Call animal control officer Mario Irazoqui at (559) 618- 9071 or message the Sanger Animal Shelter Facebook page and leave your email
address to find out more about the adoption process which will involve home checks.
The cost for each adoption
will vary.
Let Mario know if you're
interested in providing a temporary foster home for any of the shelter dogs.
