SOFTBALL Tigers' season ends with two losses in San Jose
A great season for the 2019 Reedley College softball Tigers ended May 11 in San Jose.
The San Jose City Col- lege Jaguars advanced to the California Community College Athletic Association Softball Championships by defeating the Tigers twice by identical scores of 8-0 in San Jose.
Reedley finishes the sea- son with a 33-11 record, tied for 12th for the most victories in the state. San Jose takes a season record of 38-4 into the state tournament. The Jaguars will face 37-5 Palomar in a 7 p.m. game at Bakersfield Col- lege on Thursday, May 16.
Most of the tournament games will be played at BC with the exception of some consolation bracket games at Cal State Bakersfield. The state championship game is scheduled for noon Sunday, May 19, at Bakersfield College.
May 10 in San Jose, the Jaguars took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run single by Natasha Sachdeva and never looked back. Kayla Rooney drove in four runs for the winners while Sachdeva finished with three.
Tiger pitcher Emily Grim- beby struck out eight in five innings but was touched for 12 hits and six earned runs.
Reedley managed only four hits off winning pitcher Stefanie Troja, who struck out only one. The Tigers had three of those hits in the third and had the bases loaded before Mariah Hernandez lined into a double play.
Reedley recorded singles by Samantha Lizaola, Sophia Del Bosque, Karlie Fien and Bobbie Falcon.
On May 11, San Jose scored three times in the first and closed out the con- test with three runs in the fifth off reliever Sophia Del Bosque. The big blow was a two-run homer in the first in- ning by Madison Gardner.

Three local senior players contributed to their all-star team's success in the annual City-County All-Star basket- ball games on May 11 at Bul- lard High School in Fresno.
Jordan Rodriguez and Kaleb Daglish — who helped power Immanuel High to a second place state finish in Di- vision 4 — were members of the North squad that dropped a tight 93-92 decision to the South All-Stars. Rodriguez led all scorers with 22 points while Daglish chipped in with four points.
Two players from Lem- oore, Juelein Fox and Jaden Jones, each scored 20 points to power the South to victory. Shawno Roberts of Clovis East complemented Rodriguez for the North with 21 points.
Reedley High's Jordan Chavez scored 12 points, and was one of five East players in double figures as the East defeated the West All-Stars 91- 81. Clovis East's Bryce Barton paced the West with 20 points.
The two girls all-star games were blowouts. The North All-Stars trounced the South by a 72-52 score while the West rolled past the East All-Stars, 69-44. Aujonae Jones of San Joaquin Memo- rial and Madison Campbell from Clovis West scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, for the North.
In the West's lopsided win, Sierra's Anita DeLeon led four players in double figures with 12 points. The East's Jordan Jones from Bullard paced all scorers with 14 points.
